The Culture Report for 2024 by OC Tanner was recently unveiled, shedding light on 5 noteworthy trends for the upcoming year. Let's dive into one of them: Trend #1: Embracing the new normal of flexible and remote working. Despite the constant barrage of headlines, this report reveals that these work arrangements are here to stay. "Almost half of employees (47%) would quit or look for a new job if they were required to return to the office, and 80% of people who applied for a remote job and were offered an office-based one instead declined the offer." However, it's not just about where employees work; it's about granting them the freedom to choose how, when, and where they accomplish their tasks. Employers must establish trust and set clear expectations for outcomes, enabling employees to deliver results in ways that benefit both the company and themselves. It's a win-win situation! Your Business = Britain's Best Kept Secret #3 The power lies within the people. It's the collective efforts of individuals that transform a business into a vibrant community, a tightly-knit tribe, and an unstoppable team. Just like the remarkable inhabitants of Whitley Bay, who go beyond mere neighbors and unite around their shared love for the town and its captivating seas, your business has the potential to foster an exceptional culture by bringing together the right individuals. You don't need to aspire to become a colossal multinational corporation with an army of 30,000 employees scattered worldwide to create a remarkable workplace and achieve extraordinary results. All you need is a group of like-minded individuals, driven by a common purpose, coming together to make magic happen. #culture #ceo #business #management #britainsbestkeptsecret #whitleybay #northtyneside

Your Business = Britain's Best Kept Secret #2 Whitley Bay, a charming seaside town, serves as a perfect analogy for your business. While it may not boast the glitz and glamour of London, it offers a serene and fulfilling life. Similarly, your business may not have all the flashy attractions, but it provides everything necessary for a seamless and enjoyable experience. Whitley Bay thrives on its strong community and essential amenities. Just like this town, your business caters to the needs of its clients without burdening them with excessive charges for unnecessary features. Instead, you focus on delivering exceptional service and ensuring customer satisfaction, much like Whitley Bay's renowned ice-cream parlors, fish and chips shops, and sports clubs. Your business doesn't need to be widely recognized like London; it simply needs to be known by the right people. By offering the right products or services, you can create a niche market that appreciates and values what you provide. Just as Whitley Bay's allure lies in its simplicity and offering of the right things, your business can thrive by delivering precisely what your target audience desires. You don't need to be known by everyone, you just need to be known by the right people at the right time. #culture #ceo #business #management #britainsbestkeptsecret #whitleybay #northtyneside

Your business = Britain's best kept secret #1 Let's compared your business to the amazing Whitley Bay, which I often refer to as Britain's best kept secret. Just like this hidden gem, your business may not be widely known, but it has a dedicated group of customers who absolutely love what you offer. These passionate few become your advocates, spreading the word about your exceptional products or services. Whitley Bay's charm lies in the fact that only a select group of people are aware of its beauty. Similarly, your business may not have the same level of recognition as a bustling city like London, but the people who do know about it are deeply committed to your brand. Just as Whitley Bay attracts visitors who are glad they made the effort to explore its wonders, your business attracts the perfect clients who appreciate and value what you provide. They become part of your committed tribe, serving as your free sales force and helping to build your reputation. By nurturing this passionate customer base, your business can maintain its status as Britain's best kept secret, cherished by those who have discovered its unique offerings. #culture #ceo #business #management #britainsbestkeptsecret #whitleybay #northtyneside

Purpose metrics process = a winning formula. According to and article in the FT.com profitability of companies doesn't solely depend on their focus on making profits. It may seem contradictory, but it's true. What really matters in business is having a clear purpose. Without a defined purpose, an organization cannot effectively measure its progress. Abstract measures are pointless and unhelpful. Purpose provides direction for appropriate measures, which in turn allows for manageability, learning, and improvement. Purpose alone is just a lofty goal. It's the combination of measures and methods that gives purpose substance and guides managers on the right path. Are you self-made? #3 - The Emotional Supporters You're not self-made. There are plenty of people that have listen to you whine. Sat with you when the world was falling apart. Lent you their energy when you really had none of your own left. Those people who reminded you who you were and that you could actually do it, when you'd finally decided you'd had enough. These people are usually the few that stick with you even when you're being an a**ehole. They are you emotional pit crew and without them, you absolutely, definitely wouldn't have made it this far. Go give them a hug and say thank you! #emotionalpitcrew #selfmade #culture #thankyou #ceo #leadership This post is sponsored by too many people to name, thank you all, but special thanks to @Shelley Drury and @Alex Lee.

Are you self-made? #2 - The Early Adopters. You're not self-made. Your success is not solely attributed to your own efforts. Behind every successful business, there are individuals who took a leap of faith by purchasing your product or service before anyone else. These early adopters believed in your potential, despite your lack of experience and untested business model. In any industry, it's rare to be the first player in the market. Therefore, those initial customers consciously chose you over the established competitors with their proven track records, satisfied clients, and positive reviews. It's important to acknowledge these early supporters who trusted you when others may have been skeptical. They took a risk with their hard-earned money to give your brand a chance to prove itself. It's Christmas, so go and say thank you and take this opportunity to express your gratitude and appreciation to these first clients who played a crucial role in your journey towards success. Show them that their trust was well-placed and that you value their contribution to your growth. #earlyadopters #culture #leadership #thankyou #cheerleaders. This message is brought to you by @Dan White, @Kelly West, @James West, @Mark Luffman, @Holly Etheridge. Thanks for taking a gamble. I'm glad it paid off, because back then I was making it up as I went along!
