This week, our Chief Executive, Lisa Pinney MBE, sat down with Matt Masters on the Truth about local government podcast. 🎙 It was an insightful session where they chatted more about our partnership work with local authorities across Great Britain to support communities living in coalfield areas. Earlier this week, colleagues from our environment and stakeholder engagement teams held a community drop-in event in Thorpe Hesley, Rotherham. The event was a chance to share more about our designs for a mine water treatment scheme which will manage rising mine waters, reduce negative environmental impact, and promote local biodiversity. It was a great opportunity to answer questions from the local community and gain valuable feedback on our plans. Thank you to all those who attended. #CommunityEngagement #MineWaterTreatment #Environment

Our Heat and By-Product Innovation team has been in Gateshead carrying out important work to support the development of mine water heat networks. You can find out more in the video below, where Fiona T. and Daniel Mallin Martin explain what we’re doing and how we’re doing it. We have already released the first dataset from our living laboratory research, which covers mine water levels, chemistry, temperature and pressures. Read more here 👉 https://lnkd.in/gJriA24t 👈

Great to welcome visitors from Biogenie Remediation UK LTD to the Mining Heritage Centre at our Mansfield HQ. It was a chance to give them a tour of our unique archive of maps and records, which still underpin much of our work to protect people and the environment in coalfield areas today. There was also an opportunity to visit our nearby A-Winning mine water treatment scheme in Derbyshire. This was built to prevent pollution of an important source of drinking water - you can read more here 👉 https://lnkd.in/gfq-hFzJ 👈

Across our sites, we are working to enhance nature and wildlife and make sustainable and environmental improvements for our coalfield communities. Here's an example of some of our work to enhance wildlife at a mine water treatment scheme in England: ✔ Installed a tree hive for natural colonisation by wild bees - now a hive of activity! ✔ Installed a Sand Martin nesting box where Sand Martins have already nested successfully and reared young ✔ Managed grassland to maximise species diversity and are pleased to see the arrival of orchids These valuable additional habitats are just some of the improvements we are carrying out in support of our Nature Recovery Plan, which we have just launched online here: https://lnkd.in/eNe3fcUM #sustainability #environment #CoalfieldCommunities #wildlife #nature

Last week, colleagues from teams across our business were standing at Geotechnica 2024, bringing together the UK’s largest geotechnical suppliers, manufacturers and contractors in Warwickshire. It was a great opportunity to share more about our work to keep people and the environment safe, ongoing work with drilling contractors and the recent changes we have made to our permitting terms and conditions which will support business in the drilling sector. #GeoTechnical #Geotechnica24 Equipe Group

At one of our sites in Derbyshire, we'll soon be carrying out some ecological surveying work as part of our forthcoming Nature Recovery Plan to give us a detailed understanding of the wildlife and types of habitats found there. Part of the site includes public access to a woodland walk and nature trail. The route is available all year round and features some beautiful species including two types of native heather, which are uncommon in the area. The new survey will shape how we look after the site to benefit these rare habitats. This is part of our commitment to the environment, sustainability and making improvements for residents on the coalfield. #Derbyshire #Nature #Environment #Sustainability #MiningHeritage
