At Co-op, we’re run differently. We’re not owned by a wealthy few, we are owned by our members. They have a say in how we’re run. Help to pick our leaders. Choose how profits are spent in their local community. And when you’re owned by the people, you can do right by the people. When it comes to your food, your community, your life and even your death. It’s only right that it is determined by you. We’re not just a little blue shop. We’re a 180-year-old movement, 5 million people strong, all trying to do the right thing. Owned by you. Right by you. Welcome to the new era of Co-op 👋

At Co-op, we understand how important shops and shopworkers are for their local communities. That’s why we’re spending today celebrating all 3 million retail workers across the country on National Retail Workers Day with Usdaw Union. Thank you for all the vital work you do day in and out, supporting your local communities and for providing the essential services that no one else can. #NRWD24

We’re proud to publish our first-ever socioeconomic pay gap report. In 2023, we published research in partnership with the charity Making The Leap – to better understand social mobility, inclusion and belonging for colleagues. At Co-op we already report on our gender and ethnicity pay gaps, but we recognise that socioeconomic background can also be a critical factor in an individual’s earning potential. This new report marks a key milestone in our campaign, driven by our member-owners, to promote social mobility. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/e3K-f_Vy

We have ambitious plans to scale our award-winning franchise stores to reach over 500 by 2030. As part of these plans we have signed a new franchise agreement with EG on the Move to trial seven convenience stores across the UK. Co-op’s Jerome Saint-Marc, Managing Director B2B and Growth, said: “As part of the Co-op’s overall growth plans, growing our franchise stores is a key priority for us and we have ambitious and exciting plans to significantly increase our footprint and become the partner of choice across a range of sectors. We’ve got an excellent market proposition. And whilst it’s highly competitive, we believe there’s huge potential to unlock growth with our trusted brand, and unique offer and expertise.”
