About us
We fight for the hope and happiness of young people when it is threatened by abuse, exploitation and neglect. We take inspiration from the courage and hope we see in young people every day, fuelling our belief that a good childhood is something every young person deserves. Driven by hope and working alongside young people and supporters, we will not rest until together, step-by-step, we’ve created a society built for all children.

Nearly two in five parents have been forced to educate their disabled child at home due to a lack of suitable provision or funding, finds a survey by Sense. "We’ve had parents tell us that they are spending savings put aside for their children’s future before they even start school, just to fight for the right support," says the charity's Chief Executive. Social media keeps us connected. Friends can play with funny filters at sleepovers, or stay in touch by sending each other real-time photos of their lives. But apps like Snapchat also enable criminals to groom young people or expose them to dangerous content. Read more in our blog 👇 https://lnkd.in/erc_jrSy

A special thank you to all our Project Workers! 🎉 Like Emily - who provides one-to-one support to young people who have gone missing. When a young person goes missing, it’s up to the adults in their lives – their parents, carers, and support networks – to make sure that they feel safe and that they get the support they need. Emily is there to listen without judgement, working to understand what caused the young person to run away and how we can address those challenges together. Our help means that they no longer have to struggle alone. Instead, they can process what’s happened, build strong relationships, and move forward.

Young carers are absent from school for 23 days of the school year, missing more than a month of their education on average, a new report by Carers Trust shows. One young carer said: “There is not even time to breathe. All the stress at home is affecting my performance at school and I don't always have people at home to ask for help.” Around 15,000 are caring for more than 50 hours per week, including 3,000 children aged five to nine. Around 14% of teenagers in England and Scotland showed 'addictive-like behaviours' towards social media in a new study. "It’s clear we need immediate and sustained action to help adolescents turn the tide on potentially damaging social media use, which has been shown to lead to depression, bullying, anxiety, and poor academic performance," says Dr Hans Henri P Kluge of the WHO. WHO Regional Office for Europe and Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) call for digital literacy - including social media use - to be taught in schools, better mental health services, an increase in awareness, and for social media platforms to be held accountable.
