From the farmers growing the freshest ingredients, the delivery teams ensuring it arrives on time, the chefs crafting culinary art, the maintenance teams for keeping equipment up and running, to the servers delivering it with a smile - there is so many people behind one plate of food, and we have the backs of each and every one of you. Thank you to Chris, Head Chef of the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden for sharing this. 🖤 #hospitality #suppliers

Staff members feel undervalued. Recognition for hard work is almost nonexistent. Communication is poor, and talented team members start leaving. This scenario, unfortunately, plays out more often than we would like. Many people find themselves stuck in these dysfunctional environments, which erode morale, stifle productivity, and hurt overall performance. In fact, research from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) shows that 49 percent of all employees have thought about quitting their jobs because of a negative culture. While the ideal solution might be a complete workplace overhaul, that's not always realistic. So, what can you do as an individual contributor to protect yourself and your career in a situation with a toxic manager? Are mental illness cases truly rising, or are people becoming more open about their struggles and seeking help? A recent report shows 34% of young people in the UK aged 18 to 24 reported symptoms of a mental disorder, such as depression, anxiety or bipolar disorder. A 10% rise since the year 2000. As a result, more than half a million 18 to 24 year olds were prescribed anti-depressants in 2021-22. With 1 in 20 young people economically inactive due to poor health in 2023 and a significant rise in mental health disorders among the 18-24 age group, it’s clear the conversation is changing. Workplaces, especially in hospitality, can play a vital role by offering flexible hours, mental health support, and creating a safe environment where employees feel valued and heard. Let’s burn the stigma, support one another, and make work accessible for everyone. Source: Resolution Foundation
