Recently, Roehampton Golf Club held their annual 'Salute the Services' golf day and auction, in aid of the Air League. We're delighted to announce that over £5000 was raised, to significantly contribute both to our schools' outreach programme Soaring to Success and our 617 Dambusters Squadron Flying Scholarship programme. This support plays a crucial role in enabling us to offer our Scholarships, which provide invaluable opportunities for aspiring aviators to pursue their passion for flying. The Air League Trust thanks Roehampton Golf Club and 617 Squadron for their continuous support. #aviation #aerospace #space #scholarships #career #scholar #pilot #studentpilot #flying #gliding
About us
Founded in 1909, the Air League is the UK’s leading aviation and aerospace charity with a vision focused on changing lives through aviation. It breaks down the barriers into these industries through its scholarships and outreach programmes. The Air League not only inspires, enables, and supports the next generation of aviation and aerospace professionals from all backgrounds across the UK through its outreach schemes, but uses these programmes as a catalyst to spark the inspiration and realisation that opportunities and possibilities are accessible to anyone. Each year thousands of individuals around the UK benefit from Air League support, including disadvantaged youngsters and wounded and injured servicemen and women. Equally important is ensuring this next generation of aviation and aerospace leaders are at the forefront of developing greener and more sustainable technologies as the UK works towards a net-zero future. The Air League also supports the UK’s aviation and aerospace industries through the Air League in Parliament and position papers which articulate the advanced technologies and crucial industry skills which are vital to the economic success of the UK. The Air League’s annual programme of events and lectures provide members with insight across a broad spectrum of subjects and a unique networking opportunity. The Air League’s core values underpin the broad endeavour of the organisation that were set out by its founders over 110 year ago and how, today it encourages its beneficiaries and works with its partners to deliver enduring benefits to the United Kingdom through aviation and aerospace.

I am extremely pleased and honoured to share that I have recently been awarded flying scholarships with both the The Honourable Company Of Air Pilots and The Air League for this summer! I cannot wait to begin my week long residential gliding scholarship with The Honourable Company Of Air Pilots at London Gliding Club, where I aim to build on my past gliding experience and work towards gliding solo! In addition, I am really looking forward to gaining experience of powered flight with The Air League on a 5 hour PPL scholarship at Flight Training London. These scholarships are another amazing step closer to my goal of becoming a commercial pilot and I am extremely grateful to both of the charities for these incredible opportunities - I cannot wait to get started! ✈️ #aviation #aspiringpilot #pilottraining #pilot #TheAirLeague #TheHonourableCompanyOfAirPilots

Wow, what incredible and unforgettable experience! Out of nearly 1,000 applicants, I was honoured to be one of the 90 recipients of a 3-hour Flying Scholarship from The Air League. I completed my fixed-wing lessons at Flight Training London, where I was taught by the most knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly instructors. These lessons took me from learning the basics of flight to taking off from the runway by myself! I am immensely grateful to The Air League and Flight Training London for this opportunity. It is an achievement I am very proud of, especially after travelling to London for the interview and being selected from so many applicants. I look forward to progressing with this opportunity and continuing my passion for aviation! #airleaguescholarship #flyingscholarship #womeninaviation #youngpilot #flighttraininglondon #breakingbarriers

Absolutely amazing day at RIAT volunteering with the The Air League. Had a chance to meet and greet endless buzzing next gen Aviators exploring opportunities in Aviation. It’s great to constantly remember this industry is made up of people who desire and aspire to be there and it’s truly a very personal journey for every single individual. I never stop praising the Air League because for me personally it’s truly one of the reason for where I am today! From first opportunity to have a chance to fly on a Full Motion B777 at British Airways via Air League (now still can’t believe it’s now become my office), to receiving a flying scholarship towards my PPL, 2 week work placement to explore behind the scenes of engineering world to endless RAF station visits having an opportunity to fly on so many simulators and meet so many amazing people along the way. To be very unexpectedly recieving a Babcock Trophy presented by the late Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip! It’s truly made a difference in my career. So very grateful to have a chance to give back and so very lucky to have sponsored a scholar last year and see the progress and also on a greater level see the difference scholarships make to countless young people. If you aspire to get into Avation - this is right at your doorstep to guide you! Weekend spent with wonderful individuals who gave their time to come out and put the show on #aviation #pilot #RIAT2024 #airlineindustry #inspire #careers

Inspiring the Next Gen. Yesterday, I had the best time volunteering for the Air League at RIAT. The sheer excitement and joy in children’s face at our stand was the days highlight. Many of whom were discovering aviation for the very first time! It reminded me of the enthusiasm that ran in the veins of my younger self discovering this wonderful world we call aviation. It definitely made the 4am early rise worthwhile! I am confident many children walked away with a whole new perspective of the various career opportunities in aviation and the opportunities offered by The Air League. The Air League is a phenomenal charity made up of amazing people who work tirelessly to make dreams a reality! I’m really grateful to be a part of their journey to inspire others and look forward to more events in the future. A special thanks to Lucy Isabel and The Air League for making this possible and of course to RAF Fairford for being such a great host. #Inspire #Aviation #RIAT2024
