Innovation is a key driver of growth in our economy and across wider society. Our zero carbon ready homes at Sudbury mark an important milestone in helping us identify how we can reduce the energy intensity of our homes, doing our part to help the UK achieve net zero. We are proud to share that the Sudbury trial has been shortlisted for the ‘Best Sustainability Initiative’ in the Housebuilder Awards, recognising our commitment to innovation and sustainability in the industry.   By speaking with experts from across our team, we can explore the role our Sudbury homes play in reducing the emissions of our homes for a greener future. Today we’re celebrating one of our South Midlands apprentices’, 19 year old Kai, after he recently passed his level 2 Carpentry Apprenticeship with Milton Keynes College.    Kai has been working with us as an apprentice since 2022 and has thoroughly enjoyed getting stuck in and learning on site from the wider team. He will now move forward to complete level 3 at Bedford College in September. Keep up the good work, Kai!    Here at Taylor Wimpey, we’re proud of our commitment to supporting career development and providing apprenticeships in key trades, including carpentry, bricklaying, scaffolding, roofing and painting and decorating. For more information on a Taylor Wimpey apprenticeship, please visit: https://lnkd.in/eCSkWW7j

Our South Midlands team recently used one of their volunteering days to support Willen Hospice in Milton Keynes. On the day, six employees visited the hospices' flagship charity shop, organising a large amount of clothing donations from the local community. The shop carries a vast range of pre-loved ladieswear, menswear and childrenswear, accessories, luggage and bric-a-brac, all generously donated by the local community, and offered back at affordable prices. The team thoroughly enjoyed helping the lovely ladies who work in the store and their efforts on the day are estimated to generate the hospice over £2,000 of future income. Well done to all involved!

Our zero carbon ready homes trial on our development site in Sudbury represents a groundbreaking initiative dedicated to future proofing our homes. With the UK government’s ambition to reach net zero carbon 2050, at Taylor Wimpey we are taking a leading role in the industry with our advanced future homes trial, testing multi-specification homes equipped with low carbon technologies and enhanced fabric, that customers will live in and provide informative feedback on running costs and interactions with the various technologies.   “The future homes standard is a significant step forward in the energy performance of new homes. It is a major contributor to the UK government’s target of decarbonising our part of the industry by 2050 and also an important step move to reduce the energy emissions of our homes” -Stephen Andrew, Group Technical Director #TWFutureHomes

We recently teamed up with Primary 6 pupils from Holytown Primary School to design road signs promoting safe driving around our Torrance Place development. Congratulations to Hannah and Flynn whose winning designs are now proudly displayed near the entrance to our development and received a £50 book token! The high standard of entries also led us to select five additional designs, which have been turned into a banner for our show area car park. Collaborating with Holytown Primary has been a fantastic way to engage with the local community and emphasise the importance of road safety. Take a look at the signs here: https://bit.ly/4f5oanE
