Sign if you can the latest Feedback petition asking UK gov to make larger companies report their food waste. 👇
👏Big news!👏30 businesses have called on UK gov to make larger companies report their food waste, through mandatory food waste reporting. This is a no-brainer policy that businesses and civil society have been crying out for for years - and the Conservative government failed to deliver. Will Labour listen and finally implement this common-sense measure? Currently so much food waste goes unreported - we need to break the deadlock with regulation. Businesses supporting include the British Retail Consortium, Tesco, Nestlé, and numerous others. Feedback have been raising pressure on this issue for years - mobilising 1000s of people to respond to the government consultation on this a few years ago (where 99% of respondents were supportive of mandatory food waste reporting), organising a petition signed by 16,000 people, a statement signed by numerous NGOs and businesses, and launching a legal challenge which forced the previous government to u-turn on scrapping mandatory reporting. Congrats to Too Good To Go for this recent letter mobilising businesses! We totally agree with the letter - with the caveat that it's essential to include the primary production sector in reporting, as currently food waste on farms is massive but goes largely unreported!
