We have concerns about the latest updates to National Grid’s Sea Link project, in particular plans for constructing a permanent bridge across the River Fromus. The proposed bridge appears to be absolutely the wrong approach. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gYCQn2Gz

In Suffolk we want to reverse the decline of wildlife. Connecting land and creating wildlife corridors will help, and land managers play a crucial part. If that’s you, share your thoughts on how you can help our Local Nature Recovery Strategy: https://lnkd.in/ev52Ggiy

This week we are trying a new approach to work experience and have 17 Year 10 students from a variety of different schools in Suffolk completing a ‘cohort’ style approach. We have a range of interactive sessions designed to give our young people information on different services across the Council. So far, they have heard from an Adult Social Worker, Nicola Beach and Councillors, along with our Engagement Hub team and Public Health. We also have activities planned with our Recruitment team, our Children and Young people teams and Suffolk Fire and Rescue to name just a few! We are hoping to potentially inspire a few to consider a career in Local Government and will enjoy getting to know all about them and their aspirations! #workexperience #earlycareers #year10atwork

Suffolk and Norfolk have joined the new national framework of VisitEngland accredited Local Visitor Economy Partnerships (LVEP) after a successful bid by Visit East of England supported by Suffolk County Council and Norfolk County Councils. Developed and administered by VisitEngland, the national portfolio of strategic and high-performing LVEPs support collaborative working locally and nationally on shared priorities and targets to grow the local visitor economy. The creation of LVEPs was part of the UK Government’s response to the recommendations of The de Bois Review: an independent review of DMOs in England, to reshape destination management across England, reducing fragmentation and bringing coherence to its DMO landscape. VEE chair Andy Wood OBE DL said, ‘We’re delighted that Suffolk and Norfolk County Councils have worked with us to make this successful joint LVEP application. We’ve brought together all the destination organisations and local authorities in the past few years, and this excellent news means we can grow that collaborative approach and deliver more for what is our largest industry sector and biggest employer.’ For more information, visit: https://lnkd.in/eFw7EwPx #LVEPs #VisitEngland #Suffolk #Norfolk #Tourism #LocalEconomy #Collaboration #VisitEastOfEngland #Travel #SustainableTourism #LVEP

On Monday we welcomed our 2024 cohort of Interns into Suffolk County Council, East Suffolk Council and Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils. Yesterday we held an induction day where they had the chance to get to know the rest of the group, learn more about the Councils and to meet previous interns and graduates to find out more about what to expect. We are delighted to be working with such a wonderful group of young people and are really looking forward to seeing what the next 12 weeks brings for them. #summerinternship #interns2024 #earlycareers
