We headed to Birmingham Design Festival to see Johanna's talk a few weeks ago. It was interesting to hear how everyone represented the theme of 'Process' in their sessions, and also pretty clear we are definitely doing things differently at Output. We're looking forward to exploring more next year - what a great event.
Three weeks ago, I had the immense pleasure of speaking at Birmingham Design Festival on the theme of ‘Process’. It’s hard to know, when planning a talk, whether you’re sharing anything people are actually interested in. Is our process interesting? Is it different? I wanted to share an honest account of the challenges and breakthroughs we experience as a studio with two expert teams under one roof. For us, our process is super creative and truly collaborative, both within our team and with our clients. There are no big reveals, no egos, but it’s definitely not easy. Thank you to everyone who attended the talk, the many, many people who asked provocative questions, and a special thanks to Daniel Alcorn and Luke Tonge for inviting me back to speak at the festival.

Putting a design portfolio together can be a leap into the unknown. How do you boil months of work down into a handful of project pages? And how do you make sure it really captures ‘you’? When Strategist Zackerea Bakir reviewed the portfolios of University of the Arts London LCC students, he saw how agencies judge people’s work. Suddenly it was clear what to put in, how to stand out and what pitfalls to avoid. Zack’s shared those learnings in ‘Don’t stress to impress!’ You can read it here 👉 https://lnkd.in/egb_6-DQ And don’t forget to follow Output for more help to build your career.
