StorTera

Last week I had the pleasure of attending the Faraday Institution Conference in Newcastle with Edward Brightman, Stuart Robertson and Rushdi Senevirathne. This provided me an opportunity to present some of the work we have been doing in my PhD on lithium polysulfide flow batteries with StorTera, and a chance to learn about the advances being made in other battery technologies across the globe. In addition to StorTera's contributions and insight into this project I'd also like to thank Benchmark Mineral Intelligence for the bursary which allowed me to attend the conference. Additionally, I am able to share that my first paper has been published. ☀️Well it's not everyday you get invited to No.10 for a Prime Minister speech! It was an honour and a privilege. Sir Starmer invited 50 teachers, doctors and business people from a range of sectors across the UK. I didn't get to meet the man himself personally but I did meet some lovely people who work in education, finance and innovation ☀️ 🔋Let's hope that #netzero and Department for Energy Security and Net Zero funding for exciting new energy storage technologies don't get deprioritised in the upcoming budget decisions. They represent a real opportunity for economic growth and energy security as well as a chance for the UK to become an international centre of excellence in energy storage🔋

We are working with Edward Brightman from University of Strathclyde on an exciting project funded by The Faraday Institution which is focused on remanufacturing/reusing cells from our Single Liquid Flow Battery. The project is focused on Sub-Saharan Africa where we hope to create opportunities to build a circular economy around our technology. More from Ed below...

A nexus of StorTera engineers ventured to Birmingham to the Battery Cells & Systems Expo in mid-May. 🛠 🔌 We just looked up the collective noun for engineers, there are many: design, assembly, cohort, ingenuity or of course, nexus 😊 🔋 📐 Good contacts were made with potential suppliers/partners, all very helpful on our mission to build an 8 hour flow battery demonstrator this year!

🔋 A collaboration involving Strathclyde aims to simplify the reconditioning of single-liquid flow batteries for emerging economies like Malawi and Sri Lanka.
