Preventing Youth Homelessness across the West Midlands region since 1972.

About us

St Basils works with young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, helping over 4000 young people per year across the West Midlands region with specific services in Birmingham, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall, Worcestershire, the Wyre Forest, Coventry and Warwickshire. Ever year over 1200 young people are housed in our 29 supported accommodation schemes, which for some young people includes their young children as well. We have a range of prevention, accommodation and support services to help young people regain the stability they need to rebuild their lives, gain skills, training and employment and move on. The aim is to help them successfully break the cycle of homelessness so that they can go on to experience a bright, fulfilling future and never return to a state where they are at risk of homelessness again. St Basils also works with young people and partners on a national basis (funded separately). We facilitate the National Youth Reference Group and the Youth Homeless Parliament, we are part of the national End Youth Homelessness Alliance and we are working to roll out our 'Positive Pathway' model nationwide.

"From the moment I arrived, the hosts have always shown genuine care and interest in my well-being. Their relaxed and warm demeanor makes it easy to feel at home." Could you provide a warm and homely environment like this for a young person at risk of homelessness? By opening up your home, you could be the person who helps bring hope and makes a difference in a young person’s life. Hosts are paid £155 per week to help a young person in need, and are supported every step of the way by our friendly team. We are looking for hosts in Birmingham, Solihull, Coventry and Worcestershire. Get in touch today: [email protected] 0121 772 9593

A massive St Basils thank you to Helen Nixon and all that took part in the first Henley in Arden Sleepout on Saturday 20th July. The atmosphere was electric, and they have raised an incredible £4,000 so far! ⭐ Although it was a rainy day, participants still eagerly slept under the open sky so that a young person doesn't have to.

Could you help prevent a young person from becoming homeless? St Basils needs people who have a spare room and a caring heart to help us in our mission to reduce youth homelessness. Our Supported Lodgings scheme, Home-2-Home places people aged 16-18 (occasionally older) who have experienced family breakdown within the homes of Hosts/Host families. The impact of living with a Host can be transformational for a young person and it is a rewarding experience for a Host. To become a Host, you don’t need professional experience of working with young people, although having an understanding of young people’s needs can help. Hosts receive full training from St Basils and are paid £155pw whilst a young person is in placement. Interested? Contact us today: [email protected] 0121 772 9593

We are delighted to announce that St Basils has secured over £1,147,000 from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest community funder in the UK, to support young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness by preparing them for re-entering education or starting the path towards employment or training. Thanks to The National Community Fund, the employability service has been funded for three years, which should see over 600 young people access support from the charity’s employability team. The charity is also supported by local businesses who volunteer to provide young people with insights into their industry, practice interview skills and create pathways to work. This year's Youth Advisory Board Summer Away Day at Whitemoor Lakes was a blast 🌞 We conquered gladiator challenges, built rafts, and then took them out on the lake for a spin! It's so important for our young people at St Basils to have fun and spend time together. A big thanks to all involved in organising the day, and of course, to our amazing young people for making it special 🙌💪

A group of bands came together at the Royal Leamington Spa Centre and raised over £2,500 to prevent youth homelessness in the West Midlands. The event for St Basils, which was organised by local residents Pietro and Jan Micheli and local musicians, took place on Tuesday 25th June with bands from across the region taking part. The event also contained pre-recorded performances from some of the young people that St Basils supports, showcasing their talents as well as that of the bands performing. A huge thanks to everyone who contributed/ attended! https://lnkd.in/drPTMX3j
