One of the most cherished aspects of the great British pub is its inclusiveness – a place where everyone is welcome. The very essence of a ‘public house’ lies in its tradition of being a space that embraces all. However, with this openness comes the responsibility to ensure that everyone truly feels welcome. Some of our HEINEKEN colleagues who lead our Diversity Equity and Inclusion Networks, and Dom Hyams, who leads the world's only disability-focused marketing agency Purple Goat Agency, met in a pub to explore this further. They shared their experiences in pubs, both good and bad. Our Colleague Networks are crucial in fostering an inclusive culture within our business. They offer a platform for colleagues to connect, share experiences, and support each other, creating an environment where diversity is not only accepted but celebrated. Let’s continue to work together to make our pubs welcoming spaces for all.🍻

A well-known Bromsgrove pub in Wildmoor reopened after an 18-month closure, thanks to a £513,000 investment. The refurb of The Wildmoor Oak on Top Road transformed the pub into a great quality independent gastropub. The reopening of The Wildmoor Oak created 20 new jobs.

A £180,000 upgrade of The Cherry Tree in Witham by us took place in spring. The pub was closed since October 2023, The Cherry Tree is now a family friendly community village pub offering great quality affordable food and live entertainment. A new publican, Chantelle Salhotra, took on The Cherry Tree and eight new jobs were created. Chantelle, who was brought up in Uxbridge, is moving to Witham to take over the pub. She has 17 years’ experience of working in hospitality including most recently running pubs in south London.

In a new collaboration with Timothy Taylor’s Brewery, Heineken UK and Star Pubs have created Marmalade Best cask ale in support of Marmalade Trust charity. The ale will be exclusive to Star Pubs and Heineken UK’s on trade customers from early-July to end-October, with 20p from every pint going to the only charity in the world specifically dedicated to raising awareness of loneliness. https://lnkd.in/gRZw39cs

The Woodland Tavern, a prominent Grade ll listed pub in Leamington Spa, recently underwent a £150,000 refurbishment. The revamp will help the pub thrive as a top quality local serving the community's needs and specializing in sports and activities. Jacqui Evans, who grew up in Warwickshire pubs, is the new operator, taking over from Leamington Spa’s longest-serving landlady, Josie James.

A £300,000 investment has been made to reopen The Blacksmiths pub in Loughborough after a six-month closure. The refurbishment has transformed the rundown local into a stylish pub with a new décor and all-weather garden. The reopening has created 20 new jobs. The exterior of the distinctive building, dating back to 1931, has been carefully renovated, and a sheltered year-round garden with seating for 40 customers has been created at the rear of the pub seating 40 customers. https://lnkd.in/eGzUZfgk

The Malt Shovel in Drighlington had a major £230,000 revamp by us and has reopened under new management as a true community local. The pub, is family and dog friendly, is run by Tony and Sue Ryder. Originally from Halifax, have over 15 years’ experience in the licensed trade.
