Results are in! At #LabourConference2024, we teamed up with educators, policymakers, and experts for our event, Talking in Lessons, to explore how putting speech, language, and communication at the heart of the curriculum could transform outcomes for all children - and what hurdles we need to overcome! 📚 Powerful themes emerged (captured in this word cloud) calling for essential changes in education, including: 💡 Early Intervention 🎓 Tools and training for teachers 💙 More specialist support 🏫Curriculum reform 💬The interconnectedness of speech, language and communication skills with many other issues, such as attainment, deprivation, employment and absenteeism. We delve into how we can ensure every child gets the support they need with talking and understanding words so that they can thrive in school and beyond. The Labour Party's pledge is a great place to start, but the conversation is far from over.
