🚀 The Space Opportunity Launch Event - Speaker Announcement We’re pleased to announce Joaquin Perez-Grande, Space Ecosystem Manager at Satellite Applications Catapult, as one of the speakers at our upcoming Launch Event at Granta Park, near Cambridge. Joaquin’s role focuses on creating a thriving UK space ecosystem that connects communities benefitting from space data and technology, supports businesses, and stimulates the growth of national capabilities. He works collaboratively with space clusters to inform space strategy and policy and supports government, industry, and academic stakeholders in establishing a place for their communities in space. As the ESA Technology Broker United Kingdom, TWI is delighted to host this event, which aims to connect UK businesses with opportunities in the space sector. This event, co-organised with Space East and NAAME, will bring together companies from the space sector, including representatives from the UK space industry. 🌳 Join our webinar: ‘Nature-Based Solutions’ on 2 October, with guest speakers James Scott, Director of Strategy and Planning, Urban&Civic and Christophe Christiaen, Head of Innovation and Impact UK Centre for Greening Finance and Investment (CGFI). We’ll introduce a new opportunity for teams to apply for European Space Agency - ESA funding to develop innovative nature-based solutions applications. Nature-based solutions leverage the power of healthy ecosystems to enhance protections for society, optimise infrastructure, and ensure a biodiverse future. The applications for nature-based solutions are wide-ranging and span many industry sectors. There is currently interest and demand for solutions that improve the efficiency in planning, implementing, and monitoring of ecosystem services. Interesting opportunity to bid for European Space Agency - ESA funding for Nature Based Solutions. Funding competition opens on 9th October and closes on 20th November. Relevant for agricultural businesses, environmental organisations, and local authorities. Do reach out to Space East who can share more information on the funding call and share available support for potential bids. Also contact the Norfolk and Suffolk Nature Recovery Partnership team given the opportunities to support their vitally important work (https://www.nsnrp.org/). Space applications can help improve ecosystem monitoring and restoration efforts. A list of potential applications can be found below: ➡️ biodiversity monitoring services, informing on the type and variation in species and / or indices for ecosystem services ➡️ planning of restoration efforts ➡️ change detection services to monitor ecosystem restoration efforts over time and / or the value offered by ecosystem services by comparing intervened to non-intervened sites You will get some good ideas at the Norfolk Landscapes Conference & Exhibition organised by Norfolk FWAG (brilliantly organised by Jordan Sharman) next Wednesday (few spaces left: https://lnkd.in/eqrtAZ2b)! Funding will be provided by the European Space Agency - ESA for 6-month studies called ‘Kick-Starts’, which can lead onto larger scale Demonstration Projects. Kick-Starts are funded at 75% by ESA for a maximum of €75K per contract.
