This World Animal Day, we’re shining a spotlight on the amazing work our Ecology Team does – with a special shout-out to Senior Ecologist, Tom! Recently Tom went above and beyond when a red-eared terrapin was found near our Testwood Water Supply Works, dangerously close to water extraction machinery 🐢 Without hesitation, Tom stepped in, rescued the terrapin, and even cared for it at home in his bathtub for two days, while arranging a long-term home through an animal charity 🛀 Tom’s dedication to protecting wildlife highlights the crucial role our Ecology Team plays in safeguarding both our water supplies and the environment. About us
We are one of the largest water and wastewater companies in the South East of England and thrive on the passion and hard work of more than 2,000 employees. Together we supply 532 million litres of drinking water every day to more than two million customers and treat and recycle 717 million litres of wastewater for more than four million customers in Kent, Sussex, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Water is essential to every aspect of our lives and we're proud to be at the heart of managing water and wastewater services. We drink it, cook with it and use it to clean. Our water supply faces big challenges - the population of the South East is growing fast, and climate change is bringing greater risk of droughts and more extreme weather. It’s a future of more people needing water and wastewater services, with less water to go around. So, together with our customers and communities, we aim to provide a sustainable, high-quality water and wastewater service that helps us create a resilient future for water in the South East. What an incredible two weeks at the Crawley Junior Citizen event! Now in its 32nd year, this brilliant initiative, hosted by Crawley Borough Council welcomed 1,600 pupils from 24 primary schools at this year’s event, and we were thrilled to be a part of it! Not only have we been supporting this event since 2014, but this year we also covered the cost of coach travel for pupils, making sure no one missed out. On top of that, we also teamed up with SES Water to deliver engaging 10-minute sessions to the pupils. We worked together to give young people a behind-the-scenes look at where their water comes from, how it travels to their taps, and the challenges of balancing the increasing demand for water with climate change. Each pupil left with a shower timer and a mission: to cut down shower time and turn the taps off when brushing their teeth, two changes that could save up to 73 litres per day! We’re looking forward to heading down to this year’s Southern Sustainability Expo next Thursday in Southampton, where we’ll be chatting with businesses about how they can save water with the help of our Business Partnership Fund💦 Kimberley, Water Efficiency Manager at Southern Water, who will be attending the event said: "The Southern Water Business Partnership Fund is an innovative scheme aiming to promote water efficiency in our region. Our Water Saving Audit Programme also helps businesses reduce water consumption and save money on their bills by offering a tailored solution depending on their industry and line of work. " If your business has an idea for a project which will help save water, from harvesting rain to educational programs, the next round of funding opens in early October and can help support your water-saving ideas👉 https://lnkd.in/eJR_VCyU #SouthernWater #SWSnaps

We were excited to welcome our new capital delivery partners, to a launch day at the Southern Water office in Falmer last week. We recently awarded contracts to eight companies across two new Capital Delivery Frameworks to boost our performance for customers and the environment.
