One of our core-values is to inspire curious learners. As part of this, our ESG team in Italy has partnered with a local school in Turin to deliver environmental education sessions. 📗 Our partnership kicked off last year with an interactive lesson on biodiversity and renewable energy sources. Our team was joined by members of the national park, Parco Nazionale del Gran Paradiso. 🌳 Then, last month we organised a fun-filled day of activities including a treasure hunt and games based around renewable energy for the school and children from the surrounding area. Shout out to Marina Francesca Colombo for her involvement, as well as our wider Italian #OneTeam who live by our core values each day. Did you know that solar and crop farms can simultaneously produce clean energy and a healthy harvest? This is known as agrivoltaics, or “agriPV”, which combines agriculture and solar energy production to maximise land use and protect crops – while generating clean energy. We are doing just that with the development of an agriPV plant project where cotton will grow. ☀ The 227 MW Aliai project will be one of the first advanced Italian agriPV plants of this scale 🌍 It will span approximately 420 hectares on the island of Sicily, in the southernmost tip of Italy 🌿 Elevated modules over 4 metres high will support the farming of organic cotton, which will be used by fashion company SOFINE Sonnedix is committed to supporting and preserving biodiversity, and agriPV offers an innovative and sustainable solution. The re-election of Ursula von der Leyen as President of the European Commission offers much-needed stability for Europe during these challenging times. One of the most exciting aspects for our industry is Von der Leyen’s sustained commitment to the European Green Deal, which is vital for Europe’s energy transition. In the first 100 days of the mandate, we can expect the Green Deal to be complemented by a Clean Industrial Deal, along with greater investment in energy infrastructure and technologies. Some key highlights from President von der Leyen’s Political Guidelines include: ✅ Achieving climate neutrality by 2050, emphasizing a substantial shift towards renewable energy. ✅ Turbocharging investment in sustainable technologies and infrastructure. At Sonnedix, we support future renewable energy leaders with our Sustainability Academy, online resources, school visits, and in-class workshops to educate tomorrow's problem-solvers. Last week, our Senior Supplier Quality Manager Eduardo F., presented to the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid Telecommunications & Industrial Engineering summer course on clean energy. The session focused on photovoltaic technologies, examining their use, value chain, and the consequences of manufacturing defects. Eduardo said: “It's always a rewarding experience to engage with students from around the world and contribute to their understanding of clean energy solutions. ☀️ The renewables industry has seen tremendous growth in the past decade ☀️ Global annual renewable capacity increased by almost 50% to nearly 510 gigawatts (GW) in 2023, the fastest growth rate in the past two decades. 🌏 Investing in innovative projects for the good of our planet 🌏 In 2023 Sonnedix supported the Tropical ReGen project, part of ClimateForce’s initiative to regenerate a section of the Daintree Rainforest in Far North Queensland, Australia. 🦚 The Daintree Rainforest is thought to be the world’s oldest rainforest. It is home to many animal and plant species not found anywhere else in the world! 🌴 Spanning an area the size of nearly 300 football pitches, this project aims to develop an organic reforestation model that is economically self-sustaining and can be replicated at other locations around the world. ☀️ Sonnedix supported the Tropical ReGen project through co-funding the off-grid energy system. This generates renewable energy for refrigeration, electric vehicle charging, and powering connectivity to the project. This is one of the many examples of Sonnedix’s commitment to sustainability and demonstrates how we bring our resources, expertise, and knowledge to benefit local environments and communities through the power of renewable energy. #Solar #Sustainability #Biodiversity #Community

A journey that began back in 2020 culminated in last month’s inauguration of Aprilia 1, the largest project for Sonnedix Italy. Nestled in the beautiful countryside of Aprilia in the Latina Province of Italy, at nearly 30MWp, Aprilia 1 is a story of triumph and the tireless effort and dedication of our #OneTeam. With a production capacity of 50,000 MWh per year and equipped with more than 50,000 photovoltaic modules, the plant has the capacity to: ⚡ Supply clean energy to more than 16,000 households ☀ Save more than 25,000 tons of carbon dioxide every year thanks to solar energy A huge thank you to all of our partners involved in this milestone - ING, Siemens, Albion , BayWa r.e. Not all heroes wear capes 🦸 Improving the local communities where we operate has always been important to Sonnedix, and our UK and US Teams have chosen to become #litterheroes. ♻️ One of the UK team's favourite missions was participating in the charity Keep Britain Tidy's campaign, where they spent a morning picking up litter in 5 local parks, collecting 33 bags of rubbish. And to everyone's amazement, the sun shone! On return to the office, the team completed a quiz on waste recycling with fun prizes to celebrate the winning team and special contributors. ♻️ Over in the US, the team joined forces with Volunteer Cleanup, an organisation who work to reduce the litter found on shorelines. Just a few steps away from our office in Miami, the team went to the mangrove shoreline of Biscayne Bay. They learned how mangroves serve as habitats for many species of plants and animals, meaning that their cleaning of the area would help the survival of these species. After a couple of hours, the team had gathered 150 lbs. (68kg) of trash, including bottle caps, food wrappers, Styrofoam, cigarette butts, and aluminum cans. 🚀 Investing in the development of local communities and learners As members of the communities in which we operate, contributing to their socio-economic development remains a priority for us. 📚 Did you know that in 2023, we implemented over 20 community initiatives, with charitable giving and community investment amounting to over EUR 470,000. In addition to this, our educational programme – the Sonnedix Sustainability Academy – has impacted over 315,000 learners in 2023 alone, and we are well on track to meet our new commitment of reaching 1 million learners by 2030.
