Solomons Europe is a Chartered Quantity Surveying Practice based in the Northern Powerhouse specialising in helping our clients deliver complex projects for the process, engineering and energy industries. We provide our clients with high-quality and value for money quantity surveying and project control services, as either a specialist bolt on service or as part of their existing in-house team. We bring with us extensive experience in sectors ranging from nuclear, renewables and oil and gas to utilities, to civils and infrastructure. Our team’s specialist skills and intimate knowledge of the NEC® suite of contracts helps our clients deliver their projects on time and on budget. From our humble beginnings in 1998 we have grown to a team of 60 high-quality and driven professionals, working from offices at Newton-le-Willows, Hartlepool, Chester-le-Street and Kendal and Papcastle in Cumbria. And we're continuing to deliver on ambitious growth plans to meet our increasing client needs - and at the same time pursue our passion for giving something back to the communities in which we work. After receiving support when starting out, we are driven by a desire to #Payitforward, whether this is through our Who wants to be an Entrepreneur? and Who wants to be a Young Entrepreneur? enterprise support programmes, Team 15 learning project, collaborative spaces at our striking Papcastle Depot, or pushing the health and well-being agenda with the Fit District Festival 2019. Solomons Europe is proud to be playing a full and actively role in pushing forward the Northern Powerhouse agenda.

Over the last eight months, I've been assisting Growing Well Cumbria, a mental health charity, on behalf of Solomons Europe - Chartered Quantity Surveyors, with the refurbishment of their new West Cumbria site. The local supply chain and stakeholders have provided incredible support to get the site up and running. A special mention has to be made to the following who have taken an active role to get the site of the ground. Programme and Project Partners (PPP), ALTRAD, Jacobs, Morgan Sindall Construction, Sir Robert McAlpine, NG Bailey,Shepley Engineers Ltd, William King Construction, WEST COAST SURVEYS LIMITED, Brendan Cordin (RC CIVILS), West Lake Demolition, FOXCROFT ELECTRICAL LTD, ROBERT SCOTT LIMITED. However, while launching the site was the easy part, securing funding for daily operations remains a challenge. To further support this cause, Dominic Doig and I will be participating in Growing Well's 20-mile sponsored walk to celebrate 20 years of improving mental health across Cumbria. Growing Well provides support to individuals with moderate to severe mental health needs, offering a full day of activities each week for six months to a year at their three specialized market gardens across Cumbria, at no cost. Beneficiaries work alongside trained therapeutic staff to grow fruit and vegetables, which are then packaged as weekly veg boxes. Half of these boxes are sold to fund the charity, while the other half is given to low-income families in the community. This charity is truly amazing and deserves our support.
