✳️ Solena Materials features in new report showcasing innovative Deep Biotech companies. 📓 A new report from the BioIndustry Association (BIA) explores how #DeepBiotech is offering sustainable solutions for global sustainability. 🟢 The report highlights Solena Materials as an innovative biotechnology company producing cutting-edge sustainable solutions. 👗 The fashion industry is responsible for around 4% of global carbon emissions, equal to the combined economies of France, Germany, and the United Kingdom (McKinsey, 2020). 🌍 Due to the price and performance qualities, synthetic fibres, which are derived from petroleum and cause microplastic pollution, dominate the global market. 🟩 At Solena Materials, we are working to reduce the environmental impact of the fashion sector by developing the next generation of sustainable textiles. 🔬 Our deep learning models design new-to-world proteins from scratch to develop fibres that are: ◾ High-performance  ◾ Non-oil derived  ◾ Biodegradable. 🍃 Apparel companies who want to reduce their environmental impact can partner with Solena Materials and become market leaders in sustainable materials innovation. 📗 The BIA report is a useful resource breaking down the opportunities of biotechnology and the actions needed to unlock its transformative power. ⚡ We are proud to be a part of the disruptive biotechnology ecosystem and feature in the report alongside other innovative companies such as MoA Technology, Phycobloom, Quest Meat, and Epoch Biodesign. ⏩ Read now: https://deepbiotech.org  #SustainableFashion #SustainableTextiles #BiotechInnovation #GreenTech

❗ With the textile industry’s share of the global carbon budget set to increase from 2% (2015) to 26% (2050), there is an urgent need for apparel companies to source sustainable alternative textiles.  🏭 Typically, the industry uses synthetic textiles which are oil-derived, slow to degrade, and cause significant microplastic pollution, or instead compromise on performance and scalability by opting for natural fibres.  🌎 We develop high-performance sustainable textiles to reduce the fashion industry’s environmental impact. 🔬 We use unique machine learning platforms and bio-based manufacturing to design world-first synthetic proteins which can be engineered into high-performance fibres. 📊 Properties of our fibres include: 🔹 Non-oil derived 🔹 Superior mechanical properties 🔹 High-quality, soft hand-feel ❓ But how? Jonathan Muller, PhD develops high performing microbial strains, the powerhouses of our protein production. Sarunas Driezis purifies and rigorously tests a variety of proteins using our high throughput materials testing platform. Valeria Caraus optimises upstream and downstream processing for cost-efficient, scalable production. 🌐 By partnering with Solena Materials, apparel companies can lead in sustainable materials innovation, without sacrificing fabric performance. ⏩ Check out our website to learn more: https://lnkd.in/dTcF8jhR. #SustainableFashion #SustainableTextiles #TextileIndustry #Biotech #MachineLearning
