The government's recent announcements have been warmly welcomed by the industry. With Ed Miliband's reactivation of the Solar Taskforce and a new target of 50GW by 2030, we’re gearing up for a solar revolution. Key measures include: 🔆 Encouraging rooftop solar installations for builders and homeowners. 🔆 Approving large-scale solar farms, adding 1.35GW capacity. 🔆 Mandating solar panels on new homes and non-residential buildings. 🔆 Reforming planning systems to expedite solar farm development. 🔆 Liberalising rules for installing rooftop solar on listed buildings. These steps will cut energy bills, boost energy security, drive economic growth, and help combat climate change. #SolarRevolution #RenewableEnergy #NetZero #CleanEnergy

Exciting News for Solar Energy in the UK! 🌞 The government has just approved the construction of three significant solar farms in the east of England, marking a major step towards a sustainable future. With capacities of 500MW each for Sunnica and Gate Burton, and 350MW for Mallard Pass, these projects will collectively provide around two-thirds of the solar energy installed last year! Chris Hewett, Chief Executive at Solar Energy UK, commended the new Energy Secretary Ed Miliband for his prompt approval, highlighting it as a crucial move for investor confidence and climate action. This is a significant boost for the UK’s energy security, bill reduction, and net-zero goals. Read more: https://ow.ly/OvPq50SAOs8 #RenewableEnergy #SolarPower #NetZero #ClimateAction

Solar Energy UK's latest factsheet on solar farms and agricultural land sets out the considerations that should be given to assessing the impact of solar farms on agricultural land, both in policy and practical terms, emphasising the importance of considering factors such as food security, biodiversity, and soil health. Intended to be a useful aid for Local Planning Authorities in their decision making, the document discusses the relationship between solar energy development and agricultural land use policies, highlighting the need to balance renewable energy goals with the preservation of Best and Most Versatile Agricultural Land (BMVAL). We would like to thank Dr Jonathan Scurlock FRSA, Chief Adviser, Renewable Energy and Climate Change, National Farmers’ Union of England and Wales (NFU), for help in drafting this factsheet. #Factsheet #SolarFarms #AgriculturalLand

We're optimistic about The Labour Party's victory and its commitment to making Britain a "clean energy superpower" by 2030, as outlined in their recent manifesto. This pivotal first year is set to turbocharge the solar and energy storage sectors, with significant implications for our energy security, job creation, and climate goals. To achieve these ambitious targets, we urge the government to: 📍 Publish the ambitious Solar Roadmap, developed by the Solar Taskforce. 📍 Increase the budget for Contracts for Difference Allocation Round 6. These steps will unlock investment, create green jobs, and generate cheaper electricity, setting us on the path to Labour's pledge of tripling solar power by 2030. 🔋 With 20GW of solar and 8GW of battery storage already in place, we're on track to reach 50GW of solar generation capacity and 30GW of zero-carbon storage by the end of the decade. Labour’s focus on addressing grid connection delays and boosting the domestic supply chain is essential for this progress. “We are committed to helping the new Government’s mission to deliver clean power by 2030. Labour’s first year in power is going to be a critical period for the solar and energy storage sectors – essential for future energy security, lowering energy bills and addressing the climate emergency," – Chris Hewett, Chief Executive of Solar Energy UK. The new Government must embrace solar, make swift decisions on key projects, mandate solar on new homes, and align the Solar Roadmap with the ambitious goal of 50GW by 2030. Let's make the next 100 days count! Read more: https://ow.ly/hx7b50SvRbG #SolarPower #EnergyStorage #NetZero #GreenJobs #SustainableFuture
