🌟 It’s Trustees’ Week! 🌟 Trustees play a vital role across the social sector, freely volunteering their time, passion and expertise in order to create meaningful change. Being a trustee is both an opportunity to contribute and an opportunity to grow. You are able to make a tangible difference in an area that matters to you, but also to benefit from new experiences and perspectives. For those with a drive to give back and a willingness to learn, it’s an incredibly rewarding experience. So, if you've ever considered becoming a trustee, now’s the time! We are currently handling live trustee searches for three different charities: National Union of Students (UK), Youth Focus North West (YFNW), and Hubbub. More details here: https://lnkd.in/er3asb4R 💡 Your perspective could be exactly what one of these organisations needs to grow and thrive. 💡 #TrusteesWeek #Trustees #MakeADifference #GiveBack #CharityLeadership #Volunteer

Wishing our colleagues and everyone celebrating, a bright and prosperous Diwali and Happy New Year (Saal Mubarak). Diwali is one of the most important and widely celebrated festivals for Hindus. It symbolises the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. Traditionally, Diwali commemorates Lord Rama’s return to his home village, Ayodhya, after a 14-year exile and his victory over the demon King Ravana. The villagers lit a path for Rama on his return and this is why it is known as ‘the festival of lights’. It is also a time to celebrate the Hindu Goddess Lakshmi. As the goddess of prosperity, wealth and fertility, this romantic Diwali story says that she chose Lord Vishnu, one of Hinduism’s most important deities, to be her husband on the night of Diwali. Diwali also marks the Hindu New Year, celebrated by exchanging "Saal Mubarak" wishes for a blessed year ahead. It’s a time of joy but also reflects core Hindu values of compassion, gratitude, and self-improvement. Homes are decorated with oil lamps, candles, and colourful rangolis to welcome light and positivity, and people gather with family and friends to exchange gifts, sweets, and celebrate unity and renewal.

Wishing all our New Zealand colleagues and everyone else celebrating, a very happy Labour Day. Labour Day is a New Zealand public holiday commemorated each year on the fourth Monday in October, celebrating when the eight hour working day and the 48 hour working week became the law in New Zealand in 1899. This was later changed to 40 hours. The idea of an eight hour day was started in New Zealand by Samuel Parnell, a carpenter in Wellington. In 1840 Parnell refused to work for more than eight hours each day, and because there were not many people who had his carpentry skills in New Zealand at the time, his employers had to agree to him working those hours. For more information on this important day please visit: https://lnkd.in/gEbg3hu
