This weekend, our very own Francesca Metallinos laced up her running shoes (and donned the iconic volunteer vest!) to lend a hand at the Heaton Park parkrun. If you saw someone helping set up at the crack of dawn or cheering like a pro ... yep, that was Francesca! Volunteering at parkrun isn't just about organising a great event; it's about being part of a team that motivates and supports hundreds of runners and walkers each week. We’re kicking off the week with a spotlight on our incredible member CORMAC! This leader in civil engineering, highways, and environmental services has delivered an amazing £60 million in social, economic, and environmental impact in the last year. As our CEO Guy Battle said, “Cormac’s contribution of £60 million in Social Value over the past year is truly impressive - but what’s even more significant is the real impact behind the numbers." Here’s a glimpse of these achievements: • Economic growth: £30 million of value created by working with local suppliers and £1 million invested in workforce development – including 2,244 weeks of training and 14 new apprenticeships. • Social impact: 34,000 hours devoted to biodiversity and community wellness efforts, working with over 170 groups, and donating over £15,000 to various causes. Plus, Cormac has nearly doubled their count of certified Mental Health First Aiders! • Environmental impact: Recycling 62,900 tonnes of construction waste, achieving 570 tonnes of CO2e savings, alongside an innovative PPE recycling program yielding 2.8 tonnes of CO2e reductions.
