Whoa! 📈 Octopus Agile prices are soaring today. Here's why… If you're an Octopus Agile customer, you might have been surprised by the recent price surge, with peak rates hitting a whopping 70p per kWh at 18:30 tonight 😲 ! Here's a breakdown of what's driving these high costs: 🌧️ Unfavourable weather: Low wind and solar across the UK and Europe means we have little domestic renewables production and no spare electricity to import through undersea cables, pushing us to rely on expensive gas power.  ⚛️ Nuclear outages: Several nuclear reactors are offline for maintenance, further straining the system. 🪨 No more coal: The closure of the UK's last coal plant last week means less access to a cheap backup power source. Although, this is certainly a win for the planet. We know seeing prices this high can be alarming, but it's important to understand the bigger picture with Agile.
