3 years of Micky 🥳 Msgana (Micky) S. is Skin Analytics’ Operations Administrator; she supports with overseeing the lifecycle of our Skin Analytics hardware, from ordering and setup to dispatch and making sure everything is ready for our partners, remote patients and team. Micky is also the Queen of Elite Snacks and ensuring our office is a place the team loves to work from. We're proud to share insights from our independent report evaluating AI's role in Dermatology, developed for NHS England. Amidst an 82% surge in waiting lists and a doubling of skin cancer referrals, our July 2024 review reveals how AI holds considerable promise for the NHS. We examined real-world data, analysing over 33,000 lesions assessed by DERM, an AIaMD by Skin Analytics (the only one currently extensively in use in the NHS and with sufficient regulatory approvals to operate autonomously). Through a semi-systematic meta-analysis we determined that AI could match the diagnostic ability of in-person dermatology consultations. This holds potential for prioritising urgent cases, optimising referral processes and offering system savings. Our report takes a critical look at the clinical, operational, and economic implications of AI in Dermatology and underscores the need for robust post-market surveillance to ensure AIaMD's safe and effective use. I highly recommend reading through Edge Health UK's analysis of Skin Analytics' DERM AI. From both a patient facing, clinical perspective and, of huge importance, the economic considerations of such tools in public health services. This reads very positively for the future of AI based pathways in assisting the increasing burden of waiting lists and reprioritisation of clinician time while potentially delivering budgetary savings. This is the type of innovation in healthcare that feels like a glimpse into the future!
