✨NEW REPORT on the impact of singing and music-making on the wellbeing of young refugees 🎶✨ This #research report was commissioned by Sing Up Foundation from a team led by Dr Hala Jaber with Dr Fran Garry and Professor Helen Phelan from the University of Limerick's The Irish World Academy of Music & Dance As the report includes case studies and personal stories alongside the literature review and interview analysis, it creates a picture of the lives of these very vulnerable young people and the impact of singing and music-making on their lives. It also highlights the challenges of this work, the need for facilitators to be well-trained and supported, the importance of carefully curated safe musical spaces and the great outcomes that this work can bring about. The report also features key recommendations to support best practice and recommendations for further avenues of research. Many thanks to Fairbeats! Music, Music Action International, Together Productions, Surrey Arts, partners from British Council World Voice projects and others who were interviewed for this report.
