Great morning at Sherbourne Recycling today, we went to see some sampling of the recycling collected from our residents, the quality was good with very low levels of contamination! So a big thanks to all our residents ♻️ Plus there’s always a lovely coffee and biscuits on offer at the site 💕
We recently had the pleasure of welcoming the Mayor of the West Midlands, Richard Parker to Sherbourne, alongside members of his Environmental Team. We showcased our state-of-the-art Materials Recycling Facility that is helping 1.5m households across the region recycle, and importantly, contribute to the circular economy with all materials being reused in the U.K. Our guests discovered how collaboration and innovation throughout Sherbourne Recycling is supporting a sustainable future, and having leaders like Richard witness our success first hand strengthens our resolve in making a positive impact locally, regionally, and in the industry.

What happens when waste collection is managed by local authorities? ♻️ Eight West Midlands-based local authorities have joined together to manage a local recycling plant, improving recycling and bringing down costs. The new, state-of-the-art Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) is the result of eight West Midlands-based local authorities working together to secure a stable, flexible, and long-term solution to the processing of their residential kerbside DMR. "The challenge facing local authorities (LAs) regarding recyclate processing, is the legislative requirement to collect Dry Mixed Recycling (DMR) from residential kerbsides – while relying solely on the private sector to manage the processing, commodity sale, and residual disposal. Sherbourne is delighted to confirm it will be taking part in the Waste Industry Placement Scheme and looks forward to welcoming the Environment Agency officers to site.
With the Environmental Services Association, we've relaunched our Waste Industry Placement Scheme to support the sharing of knowledge between regulator and industry. The scheme will provide our officers with hands on operational experience needed to regulate with greater understanding, credibility and confidence.
