Transforming Portsmouth Together
About us
Transforming Portsmouth Together Our mission is to create sustainable collaborations and innovative programmes which make Portsmouth Britain’s premier waterfront city in which to invest, live, learn, work and visit. We run programmes covering three areas managed by our part-time staff and nearly 200 volunteers: Business: We facilitate inclusive growth across the entire city, making sure we represent every facet of the diverse groups that make up our Business community, and promote the successes of the city so we can continue to demonstrate that Portsmouth as a vibrant place to start and grow a business. Education: We work collaboratively with city partners and employers to deliver a range of inspiring programmes that enable residents of all ages to explore their future, develop their skills and be connected to Portsmouth’s diverse labour market. Community: From veterans to care leavers and beyond, we’re giving Portsmouth’s citizens the support they need to succeed, and also encouraging residents to give back to the city they call home. If you would like to get involved with any aspect of our work, or have good news stories and events for us to share, please email [email protected]

Could your business benefit from Youth Employment? Did you know that 91% of young people in Portsmouth have never been in paid employment, and that 67% have wanted a job, but were unable to get one? They want to work, develop skills, and earn money, but the opportunities for them to do so are few and far between. Our Youth Employment programme has partnered with Portsmouth City Council to create a comprehensive online resource outlining the process, rules, and regulations for hiring young talent (14-17year olds), which can be found on our website. We’d love you to consider hiring a young person, either as a regular part-time employee or on an intern basis during a school or college holiday and we are happy to support you through this process. Meet Chloe Bolton, the well earned recipient of the Shaping Portsmouth Volunteer Of The Year Award 2024. Chloe is a Volunteer programme lead on several of our Education Pillar programmes here at Shaping, but today we give recognition for the work Chloe does on our Apprenticeship Bus Roadshow 🚌 Chloe is well equipt for such a role. Her day job over at Portsmouth City Council as Enterprise and Skills Executive, allows Shaping Portsmouth access to all of the schools in the city that Chloe has forged relationships with and works so hard to support 🏫 Chloe has been a vital contributor to The Apprenticeship Bus Programme and is back for 2025, her third roadshow and always at the helm with her outstanding knowledge, leadership skills and cheerful disposition. Hear what Kirsty Hill has to say about working alongside Chloe on the programme 😀 "Chloe has been and continues to be, a huge beacon of both information and support. Thoughout my journey here at Shaping as the Education Pillar Lead, I have been lucky enough to have Chloe by my side every step of the way. Chloe has extensive knowledge of our Education system as well as Apprenticeships and I could'nt nor would I want to do this without her" We hope our Partnership with Portsmouth City Council and Chloe Bolton continues and that the hard work that goes into the Programmes has a lasting impact on the students that it has been created for. We were thrilled to be invited to the launch of the Solent Careers Hub today and hear all of the wonderful work that is happening to shape the next generation of talent in the city of Portsmouth. Here's a picture of Chloe Bolton sharing the exciting work taking place at Solent Careers Hub 😊 at today's event. With our 2025 Apprenticeship Bus 🚌 roadshow fast approaching and planning and development in full swing, we are taking some time to highlight the individuals and organisations who bring this programme to life. Without our Volunteer Programme Lead this work wouldnt be possible, so a huge shoutout to Mountjoy one of our commited partners and Simon Ingram for the time and expertise that he volunteers to support Kirsty Hill and the wider stakeholder team, to make sure the programme we are delivering is the best it can be. Read what Simon has to say about the work he does with the Apprenticeship Bus programme below. “I joined the Apprenticeship Bus Programme as a Volunteer lead August 2024 because I am passionate about Apprenticeships. Apprenticeships deserve far more recognition and promotion, and this programme represented an opportunity to show case how credible and fulfilling a career pathway they are for students across all industries and sectors. I am privileged to work with a team that embody this same passion as I and our first year working together far exceeded what we could have expected. We knew that what matters is how students received the programme, and the feedback was tremendous. I am so excited to be part of 2025 programme as we have so many improvements to implement that centre around the students’ experience.” Thankyou Simon Ingram 😃 #ShapingPortsmouth #Portsmouth #TransformingPortsmouthTogether Simon Ingram Kirsty Hill Chloe Bolton David Humphries Steffan Jones Robyn Jacquest Suzan Win Latt Matt Farmer Omojowo Marian Oshodi-Glover Mountjoy
