"In a world where true gender equity remains a distant dream, the media wields immense power to shape perceptions and drive change. Yet, recent events have highlighted a disturbing trend: the sensationalisation of gender-based violence at the cost of responsible journalism." Sensationalism sells, but at what cost? In this article, our very own Olivia Scarlett explains why now is the time to challenge harmful media narratives. Read more via the Creativebrief platform: https://lnkd.in/eFXTbBuR

Microaggressions are never “micro”... But speaking often feels like navigating a minefield, where every word counts and the fear of being misunderstood can be overwhelming. In her latest piece on our Hub, Geli L. explores the emotional toll that microaggressions take on individuals. With beautiful illustrations by Naomi Gennery, the piece highlights the challenges of addressing these moments and the weight they carry, which often remains unseen. ❤️🩹 Read the full piece here: https://lnkd.in/eiKGqMQ4 #MicroAggressions #UnderstandingMatters

ICYMI a recap from yesterday's conversation; we were stuck on this question, among others. I am curious; please let me know your responses in the chat below ⬇️ 🗒️ | Récapitulation de la conversation d'hier ; nous étions bloqués sur cette question, entre autres. Je suis curieux ; faites-moi part de vos réponses dans le chat ci-dessous ⬇️ 🗒️ 'What is the most significant trend or emerging strategy in 2024 (and beyond) you think will fast-track women and marginalised voices into political leadership?'| 'Quelle est la tendance la plus significative ou la stratégie émergente en 2024 (et au-delà) qui, selon vous, permettra aux femmes et aux voix marginalisées d'accéder plus rapidement au leadership politique ?' From a technology standpoint, I immediately thought of #BratSummer and #GenZprotestsinKenya as trends to garner additional support for new leaders in Kenya and the US. This year, digital media has been heavily used to debunk myths about women's and youth's leadership. #VOTEWomen AfricTivistes West Africa Think Tank (WATHI) Futurelect Apolitical Foundation Shape History Pollicy USAID National Endowment for Democracy

Policy = boring? 🥱 Not if you ask us! 😎 UNGA wrapped last week, and we’re still buzzing! This annual gathering of world leaders was a powerful moment for tackling global challenges and committing to a sustainable future for everyone. 🌍 It was also a chance to show that while policy-making is serious business, it can be creative and fun! 🎉✨ Our partners, SheDecides and Fondation Botnar, were on a mission to amplify key issues at the event: • SheDecides hosted Power to Decide at the Blue Gallery in New York, showcasing the history of the abortion movement through impactful visuals and stories that honoured the activists behind the fight for bodily autonomy. • Meanwhile, Fondation Botnar, along with Restless Development, led the #YouthPowerSummit, where young leaders passionately rallied for change. The event even featured surprise appearances from Malala Yousafzai and former New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark, earning the title of the “hippest” event at UNGA from POLITICO! Our creative power duo Naomi and Anya were key in shaping the look and feel for these events, ensuring their messages resonated and were engaging. Check out their top tips for using creativity to revolutionise policy events below! 👇 #CreativePolicy #UNGA2024 #PolicyInnovation #SocialImpact
