⭐ This month, we’re thrilled to recognize three outstanding individuals for their commitment to safety at Seadrill: 🔩 Eigil Hammer, roughneck, #WestElara, was performing a Drops Inspection when he noticed loose bolts and promptly informed the technical department, ensuring they would be repaired and secured. 🔧 Justin Norris, lead roughneck, #WestNeptune, spotted a broken roll pin on the hydraulic lift cylinder. He quickly informed the driller and proceeded to fully install and replace the broken pin, demonstrating exceptional attention to detail. 🏗️ Brett Fowler, crane operator, #SevanLouisiana, noticed a new crew member standing in a hazardous position during a crane operation. He immediately called a Time Out for Safety (TOFS) to educate the crew member on proper body placement and situational awareness. Thanks to his quick thinking, all lifts were performed safely. 🌊 We’re excited to spotlight Brian Clelland, one of our Technical Superintendents dedicated to supporting our growing Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) fleet. With a solid foundation built over 16 years in the Royal Navy and extensive experience in the drilling industry, Brian has been instrumental in advancing our MPD capabilities. 🔧 Starting as a Field Service Technician with NOV, Brian joined Seadrill in 2010. Since then, he has progressed through various roles, from Rig Mechanic to Subsea Engineer, and ultimately to MPD Supervisor. 🚀 According to Brian, MPD is a game changer in the drilling industry. It offers enhanced control over formation pressures, improves safety, and optimizes drilling operations by reducing non-productive time. This not only lowers drilling costs but also minimizes environmental impacts, aligning with our commitment to sustainability. 💡 Recent success stories, like drilling a well on the #WestSaturn with an impressive margin of less than 3 psi, highlight how MPD allows us to operate in complex and high-pressure environments that were previously inaccessible. 👏 Thank you, Brian, for your invaluable contributions to Seadrill and for leading the way in MPD technology! 🌍 As part of our BeWell program initiatives and in celebration of #WorldHeartDay (Sept 29), our team has been running a Cardiovascular Campaign throughout September in Angola, raising awareness about cardiovascular disease, cholesterol, and hypertension. 💡 Our International SOS Medics onboard the Sonangol Quenguela, Sonangol Libongos, and West Gemini shared valuable insights on healthy eating, exercise habits, and the importance of regular blood pressure checks. Our Area Medical Doctor provided health education and awareness to the onshore team. 🍽️ To further support the campaign, "Healthy Option" plates provided by our catering companies received special focus at meal times, showcasing well-balanced meals, and our crew members got involved by measuring their blood pressure. 🏃♂️ As part of our commitment to health and fitness, we're also participating in the Rig Run Qualifiers fitness challenge, promoting daily exercise, teamwork, and wellbeing. 🚢 We’re sharing some more updates from the #WestPolaris! Recently, the team replaced one of the thrusters on this impressive rig. Here’s why this is such a crucial task and what is involved in the process. 🔧 What Happened? One of the six thrusters, crucial for maintaining position during drilling and navigating the rig, was removed due to a technical fault. The old thruster, covered in marine crustaceans and rust, is set to be refurbished. ⚙️ New Thrusters: We’re also preparing new thrusters to be transported to Brazil as backup options for the region. 🛠️ The Operation: Replacing a thruster involves handling a hefty load—63 tons to be precise. This critical operation requires meticulous planning and assessment, from the crane’s lifting capacity to the positioning of the thruster on the rig. 👀 Check out the images of the operation and see the care that goes into maintaining our equipment to ensure top performance and safety. 🚢 Exciting News: The #WestCapella is back in Seadrill’s coveralls! 🗺️ This impressive 6th-generation ultra-deepwater dual activity drillship has a rich history with #Seadrill since her construction in 2008. With an operational history spanning Southeast Asia and West Africa, she is a testament to our commitment to excellence. 🌱 Originally built by #Samsung in South Korea, she returned to Seadrill’s management at midnight on 14th September and will start her next well-deserved contract in December 2024.
