With the closure of the last coal-fired power station in the UK, there are lots of articles and comments about what we can do with the sites (including this great read from the BBC). We are proud to be playing our part. We are already developing the old Uskmouth site into a Sustainable Energy Park with one of the largest pipeline of Battery projects in the UK. https://lnkd.in/g8t6_DWD

Another great piece by Modo Energy on Battery Storage: "With falling Capex costs and a higher revenue potential, we project a large increase in battery energy storage capacity, driven by 6 and 8 hour systems." With the scale of our site we are already planning for this type of growth and revenue potential. https://lnkd.in/eYJwNuQ8

Our CFO Simon Hirst and COO David Taaffe were talking all things battery storage at the Solar & Storage Live conference. (https://lnkd.in/dTxPzUg). With over 1GW of Battery Storage potential, we are playing a leading role in the delivery of this vital technology but we only achieve through collaboration, so it's always great to hear from so many in the sector: exciting times!!

Really insightful article from Modo Energy about Battery Storage and why, as the headline says, they are achieving the "Highest revenues in GB since Oct 2023" https://lnkd.in/ejndWN2W

“Batteries are changing the game before our eyes.” A great quote from Fatih Birol. This article in the Economist highlights the vital role batteries play today and moving forward. We own one of the largest BESS development sites in the UK with over 1GW of potential, we are excited to be part of: "Clean energy’s next trillion-dollar business" Graham Reid Simon Hirst David Taaffe John Woodley Alex Free https://lnkd.in/eGji3J93

Congratulations to all those successful projects in the latest auction round. SAE is now delivering an additional 59MW at its world-leading MeyGen project. HydroWing Ltd Nova Innovation Magallanes Renovables
Congratulations to MEC Lead Partners HydroWing Ltd, Nova Innovation and Magallanes Renovables on today's Allocation Round 6 (AR6) results. AR6 has secured 28MW across 6 tidal stream projects, putting the UK on course to have 130MW of tidal stream capacity in its waters by 2029. Tidal stream is an entirely predictable renewable technology. Its predictability means it can play a key role in the UK’s future energy mix and in a secure transition to net zero. The MEC response is available here: https://lnkd.in/ej_jpKts AR6 results available here: https://lnkd.in/eGeE9AAD

We are really pleased to have secured an additional 9MW of capacity for our world-leading MeyGen project. This will bring the total project under development to 59MW. This next phase is in addition to the 6MW already operational at the site. MeyGen has so far produced 66GWh of energy, more than all other tidal stream sites in the world combined, clearly demonstrating that MeyGen is the world’s number one site for tidal stream power. Our CEO, Graham Reid, commented: “The scale and opportunity that MeyGen represents for the industry, the supply chain, our stakeholders, and the wider United Kingdom is significant, and we will work with all involved to ensure its success.” https://lnkd.in/eZXDCx9R
