Trojan force This is HMS Agamemnon, named for the Greek warrior king, and the sixth of seven Astute-class hunter-killer submarines now in the water. Phoenix rising, Lightning striking... ⚡ For the first time in nearly 15 years a Royal Navy fast jet squadron has embarked on a Royal Navy aircraft carrier. F-35Bs of 809 Naval Air Squadron joined HMS Prince of Wales to prepare for Exercise Strike Warrior in the North Sea later this month as the carrier and her air/battlegroup work up for their maiden deployment in 2025. Never mind the molluscs, here’s the loggerhead turtles… 🐢 Last month we helped out the Solent oyster population, this month we’ve helped repatriate vulnerable turtles to their natural habitat. HMS Medway released the creatures off the Azores after the turtles had been nurtured back to health at the Blue Reef Aquarium Newquay and Anglesey Sea Zoo Marine Conservation Centre in Wales when Atlantic currents washed them ashore in the UK – far from the warm waters they thrive in. Stand by for action. We are about to launch Sting Ray… into the mid-21st Century. The RN's mainstay lightweight torpedo - used by Type 23 frigates, Merlin and Wildcat helicopters, plus RAF P8 Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft, is getting a £60m upgrade.
