Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals make up the largest specialist heart and lung centre in the UK.

About us

Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals make up the largest specialist heart and lung centre in the UK and among the largest in Europe. Our partnership between two specialist hospitals, which are known throughout the world for their expertise, improves our standard of care and research success. We only provide treatment for people with heart and lung disease. This means our doctors, nurses and other healthcare staff are experts in their chosen field, and many move to our hospitals from throughout the UK, Europe and beyond, so they can develop their particular skills even further. We carry out some of the most complicated surgery, and offer some of the most sophisticated treatment that is available anywhere in the world and treat patients from all over the UK and around the globe. At the core of our partnership are 7 key values; belief systems that are reflected in thought and behaviour. We care, we respect, we are inclusive, we believe in our staff, we are responsible, we discover and we share our knowledge. Our hospitals are part of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

Last month we marked Pride Month with events and activities for staff, including attending Pride in London.🌈 Thank you to our LGBT staff networks for hosting some great educational, social and wellbeing events. The networks meet regularly throughout the year to discuss key issues and initiatives and organise social events to support our LGBT colleagues. They also offer support and advice in the workplace and provide access to mentoring, links to other LGBT networks, and information about local events and organisations. How to get involved: All staff, including allies, are welcome to join the LGBT staff network meetings which are advertised to members and on our staff intranet. Staff can search 'LGBT Network' on the intranet to find out more. #PrideInLondon #TeamGSTT #LGBTplus Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals

    • A very large group of people in front of an office block building. They are mostly wearing the same white t shirts. Two of them are holding up rainbow coloured umbrellas and the people in the front row are holding up a big banner which is a rainbow flag with a blue box over containing the Guy's and St Thomas' logo and some text that reads 'Proud to be part of the NHS'. It's a sunny day and everyone looks happy.
  • Our researchers have become the first in Europe to recruit a patient to a disease-modifying clinical trial for patients with primary ciliary dyskinesia, a rare genetic condition affecting the lining of the lungs. Funded by ReCode Therapeutics, the experimental trial is led by respiratory consultants Professor Michael Loebinger and Professor Claire Hogg. It is taking place at Royal Brompton Hospital, which is home to the world’s largest cohort of patients with PCD. Read more about this exciting trial here: https://lnkd.in/entuKJHg

In case you missed it, this month we celebrated our annual Nursing and Midwifery Week. There were plenty of events and activities for everyone to get involved in, including a poster competition, specially themed menus, awards, talks, a career development board game and information stalls. It was a great opportunity to share the fantastic work of our nursing and midwifery colleagues, celebrate their achievements and to say thank you for everything they do. Staff set up information stalls around our hospitals and community services to showcase their work and to provide career development and wellbeing advice. The Nightingale Academy held an event with excellent speakers and presented our new Nightingale nurses and midwives with their awards. The celebrations ended with an uplifting awards ceremony where teams and individuals were recognised for their outstanding work. Take a look at our photos from the week. Can you spot some familiar faces? 📸 If you would like to join our nursing or midwifery teams, visit the Guy's and St Thomas' jobs page: https://ow.ly/l6Kr50RYJmJ #TeamGSTT #Nursing #Midwifery #NursingJobs #MidwiferyJobs Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals
