An advanced new Typhoon radar, which will protect RAF Typhoon pilots of the future, has taken to the skies for the first time. A prototype of the European Common Radar System (ECRS) Mark 2 radar has been flown on a UK test and evaluation aircraft by BAE Systems from Warton, Lancashire. The flight begins a programme of airborne testing of the radar, which will give RAF pilots the ability to suppress enemy air defences using high-powered jamming and engage targets whilst beyond the reach of threats, making Typhoon an even more potent part of the NATO front line fleet. Another opportunity to see our RAF Police Military Working Dogs in action! 🐾 🐕 After months of hard work and training, eight competitors battled it out to be the ‘Best Dog Team’, but Corporal Cornell & Ivan from RAF Coningsby emerged victorious to be crowned the Champions at the 2024 RAF Police Military Working Dog Trials competition (affectionately known as ‘Trials'). Trials took place at RAF Honington and the teams were immediately put under pressure in a variety of operational scenarios including core skills of agility & obedience, threat perception during day & night patrols, and a dog’s ability to detect and detain intruders. Congratulations to all of our two- and four-legged competitors. #militaryworkingdogs #military
