Many people have experienced the frustration of waiting months, or even years, for an NHS hearing aid, highlighting the crisis in our audiology services.
The Prime Minister has outlined three major changes the Government wants to bring to the NHS in England:
▶️ Shifting more care from hospitals to community settings
▶️ Moving from an analogue to a digital NHS
▶️ Moving from treating illness to focusing on prevention
Crystal Rolfe, Director of Health at RNID, said; “RNID welcomes the three ‘big shifts’ set out by the Prime Minister. Getting people to take action on hearing loss early by regularly checking their hearing is crucial, and could reduce the chances of patients developing other conditions like dementia or depression.
"A move towards digital services would finally enable patients’ needs to be consistently recorded electronically, and a diverse range of community services across England would lower the costs of audiology, increase patient choice and reduce waiting times.”
