Big news 📢 We’re developing a new hydrogen electric supercar with styling designs from students at Coventry University. Our plan is to produce a limited run of radically engineered Riversimple supercars that will push the limits of range, efficiency and lightweighting and use advanced carbon composite materials, inboard motors and brakes, lightweight fuel cell technology and supercapacitors. The interior and exterior design of the Riversimple supercar is the subject of a competition for postgraduate students at Coventry University’s School of Automotive and Transport Design as their core individual project in the autumn semester, led by Assistant Professor Aamer Mahmud. The collaboration between Riversimple and Coventry University will be covered by Autocar and the competition judging panel will include Head of Design at VW, Andreas Mindt, who kickstarted his own career with a student-industry competition. Our vehicles are ultralight and highly efficient: 🏎️ Like Formula One cars, ours are built with strong, lightweight composite materials – rather than steel –  and we’re working with pioneering partners REPOXYBLE project to make them truly recyclable. ⚪ The Rasa’s carbon fibre monocoque chassis weighs just 72kg. This ‘single shell’ option allows structural integrity, lightness and strength, and doesn’t corrode. The 1992 McLaren F1 was the first production car with a carbon fibre monocoque. 🪶 Mass Decompounding – rather than just lightweighting – is core to our engineering principles. Lightweighting is making individual components lighter but we focus on the whole system; a lighter powertrain leads to a lighter chassis which in turn needs less power – a virtuous circle of mass decompounding. We’d like to be amongst the first to congratulate Juergen Maier CBE FRS FREng on his new role, and the Government on their choice of Chair for #GreatBritishEnergy. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗥𝗮𝘀𝗮? 𝗔𝘀𝗸 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗕𝗲𝗻… “Quite often I was the fastest car on a twisty road. Although limited to the speed limit, the Rasa grips to the road like no car I’ve ever driven. It was fantastic fun to drive and the best bit was that it was all guilt and worry free, no impact on the environment and no worries about the running costs.” “Driving something as eye-catching as the Rasa certainly did attract a lot of attention. Wherever I went people asked to take pictures and wanted to know more.” Filling up? 🗣️ “It’s really easy, you rock up, attach the nozzle, put in the code and the car refills, there’s no need to keep your hand squeezing the trigger and there is definitely no coming away smelling of fuel. It’s the perfect way to drive an eco-friendly car without having to compromise on convenience.” Costs? 🗣️“My mileage fee worked out cheaper than running my diesel BMW, and that’s just in the fuel! I dread to think what it would be like if I worked out the insurance and maintenance costs.” Practicality? 🗣️“There wasn’t a moment I wished it was more practical, it could fit in far more shopping than I would ever be likely to buy, the doors make getting in and out really easy and the size of the car meant it was very easy to park." We delivered his Rasa at the start of December 2022 and in just 3 weeks, Ben covered over 650 miles. Ben paid full price for his time with the Rasa and found the subscription cost-competitive with his secondhand, diesel BMW.
