Between Rio Tinto, Qantas and BHP, we’ve committed A$80m to the Silva Carbon Origination Fund. The fund will give us access to large-scale, high-integrity carbon credits from land reforestation projects integrated with sustainable agriculture. We’re absolutely committed to decarbonising our operations, but many of the technologies we need will take time to develop and implement. Meet Chris Croker, a Luritja man from Central Australia, who is our new global Chief Advisor Adviser Indigenous Relations. "I’m deeply passionate about Indigenous rights. I firmly believe that as Indigenous Peoples, we can achieve anything," Chris says. "I’m excited to be stepping into this role... Although there are differences in Indigenous specific experiences and customs, many of our communities around the world share much in common, primarily in the deep spiritual connection we have to Country, ancestors and our future generations." Today is International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples - a day which aims to raise awareness and protect the rights of Indigenous Peoples around the world. We’re focused on strengthening our connections with Indigenous Peoples in every country where we operate.
