Today, on Clinical Trials Day 2024, we honour the remarkable contributions of clinical trials in the fight against #Alzheimersdisease. Clinical trials are the backbone of medical advancements, providing the essential research needed to develop new treatments and therapies that can change lives. Hundreds of thousands of people in the UK and USA volunteer to participate in clinical trials every year. Clinical trials are not just conducted to test medicine, they are also used to test and compare different medical treatments, products and equipment such as surgical tools, diagnostic machines, wound dressings and mental health therapies. Participating in a clinical trial has numerous benefits for volunteers, who are helping to develop new treatments and playing an active role in #research; importantly, volunteers are benefiting future generations, as well as taking control of their own health. Thank you to our #team at Re:Cognition Health, all of our amazing #volunteers, study partners, scientists and everyone who contributes to clinical trials; together we are making a positive difference to create a future without Alzheimer's. #ClinicalTrialsDay #CTD2024 #AlzheimersResearch #MedicalAdvancements #HealthcareInnovation #ClinicalTrials #FightAlzheimers #ResearchMatters #PatientCare #FutureofMedicine

Re:Cognition Health is proud to be delivering trials for a groundbreaking vaccine targeting toxic brain proteins to prevent Alzheimer's. As reported in the Sunday Express by lucy johnston, which featured insights from Dr Emer MacSweeney, Re:Cognition Health’s CEO and Medical, successful results could offer hope within five years. The trial aims to halt Alzheimer's progression by clearing harmful proteins. If successful, it could revolutionise dementia prevention, sparing millions from the devastation of this disease. The ACI-AD study involves a vaccine that triggers the body's immune system to attack and break down #amyloid plaques, which are associated with #Alzheimer's disease. Unlike typical immune responses that can cause #inflammation, this vaccine is designed to avoid activating inflammatory T cells. Dr Tom MacLaren, Consultant #psychiatrist at Re:Cognition Health, spoke with Healthline Media about a recent Swedish study that suggests a lower mortality risk among those taking #ADHD #medications, especially for unnatural causes. The study followed 150,000 individuals for 11 years and revealed a significant correlation between medication use and reduced mortality rates. Dr MacLaren suggests that the study's findings might motivate individuals with ADHD to consider medication and focus on their overall #health. While the exact link between medication and lower mortality remains unclear, managing #ADHDsymptoms can indirectly improve physical health, #selfcare, and potentially mitigate risks associated with substance use. Our CEO and Medical Director Dr Emer MacSweeney was featured in the Independent speaking about #diagnosticbloodtests for #Alzheimer's which could be on the horizon. These tests could detect the disease up to 20 years before symptoms manifest, paving the way for early intervention through opportunities in #clinicaltrials, testing new-generation medications to slow disease progression. Clinical trials are currently the only way in the UK to access these medications. #alzheimersdiagnosis #alzheimersresearch https://lnkd.in/eBaRxGRG
