The Reach for Health Centre community health solution has been evolving in Northamptonshire since 1994, working with and alongside the NHS and specialist health providers, to offer a leading-edge portfolio of services in one place.
The health impact is now well proven, and a scalable centre-of-excellence model has been established which makes a significant impact upon family lives, demand for NHS services and costs, GP services and referrals, etc.
As a charity which is now financially self-sufficient, the intention is to expand this centre model into Northamptonshire and beyond, replicating this many times over within chosen geographic areas – creating clusters of centres which deliver a community health impact whilst being financially self-sufficient.
On Friday, August 16th, our team at The Reach for Health Centre took part in a CPD Training Day, a vital step in our ongoing professional development. We focused on sharpening skills specific to our work within the charity and even had some fun team-building activities—Sophie led a Yoga class that definitely kept things interesting! We’re thrilled to celebrate Jackie, a dedicated member of The Reach for Health Centre for nearly 30 years!!!
From the very beginning, Jackie has been part of our community, witnessing and contributing to the Centre’s growth over the years.
She initially joined to focus on her fitness and wellbeing as she aged, and despite facing health challenges—including a discectomy, arthritis, and an ankle replacement—Jackie remains an inspiring presence. Having long-standing members like Jackie is a testament to the special environment we’ve cultivated.

Meet Mark, one of our dedicated members here at The Reach for Health Centre. He’s decided to share his own story alongside the video you’re about to watch. Mark's hard work and determination proves that anything is possible!
“I've been a part of The Reach for Health Centre since August 2021, shortly after turning 60. This journey began after a high-speed crash at Donington Park on July 31st of that year (the clip of the crash in the video is not the one left me with a brain bleed and leg injuries).
Thanks to the incredible support from The Reach for Health Centre, I was able to regain my strength, and, after just three months, I got my driving license back and returned to racing in 2022.
In January 2022, I was fortunate enough to retire, allowing me to attend the Centre daily, sometimes twice! While it’s been instrumental in maintaining my physical fitness, the camaraderie and banter have been equally vital for my mental well-being.
Aside from circuit racing, I’m also a part of the UK Monowheel Team, where we build machines to break world speed records. Over the years, we've set three World Records and are aiming for another later this year.
Since monowheels have no brakes, strong legs are essential for stopping them – it’s a bit like using your feet to stop a bicycle when the brakes fail! Meet Ross, who joined The Reach for Health Centre in May 2024.
Ross has faced an incredibly challenging few years. After a severe accident at work left him with a limp and daily struggles, he became bed bound, losing much of his function and strength. Adding to his challenges, Ross was diagnosed with a tumour in his heart, which led to debilitating health issues and severe mental health struggles.
Despite these hardships, Ross has shown remarkable resilience. He’s been using an electric wheelchair to get around and a walker for mobility within his flat.
Now, thanks to the dedicated support of our team and his own determination, Ross is making incredible strides!

As a nation, we are facing the increasing impact of people living longer but unfortunately not always living healthier for longer. The Reach for Health Centre, Daventry, Multi-Ability Online Class is tailored to accommodate individuals or groups including care homes and is delivered online. We cater for varying fitness levels and abilities, ensuring everyone can participate and benefit. Our inclusive classes offer a diverse range of exercises that can be adapted to meet specific needs, whether beginners or more experienced. All classes are conducted by our fully qualified instructors. The sessions focus on improving strength, flexibility, and overall wellness, broadcast to wherever you are. With personalised modifications and a supportive virtual community, participants will receive the guidance and motivation needed to achieve fitness goals. James, who survived a major stroke just two weeks before his 49th birthday in March 2023, joined The Reach for Health Centre in January 2024. He attends the Centre, up to 5 times a week, demonstrating remarkable dedication and commitment to his rehabilitation. We are extremely proud of his achievements in his first six months with us.
As part of James’s individualised rehabilitation plan, we employ a combination of exercise rehabilitation and hand therapy, focusing on the affected side.
