A thoroughly enjoyable day sharing my knowledge and experience to the young people who attended the EY Foundation employability week. During this, I was able to host an employability skills workshop. The aim of this was to give the attendees insight into how a finance company operates and to build their presentation skills, equipping them with the confidence needed to develop their careers. An inspiring group of young adults who I learnt a lot from and wish all the very best with their futures. Thanks RCK Partners for the opportunity.

RCK’s Legal, Data and Compliance team lunch at M Threadneedle Street Restaurant, to welcome Eli Gottlieb to the team. Eli joins us as our new Head of Risk and Compliance.   Eli is an experienced Chartered Tax Adviser (both ATT & CTA qualified) with nearly ten years of expertise in various areas of tax. His career includes working in Private Client Tax at Smith & Williamson (now Evelyn Partners) and Tax Dispute Resolution at BDO. Eli excels as a resilient problem-solver with a keen interest in helping clients navigate and resolve complex tax disputes.   As Head of Risk & Compliance, Eli leads the Compliance Team, ensuring all claims made by RCK meet the firm’s rigorous standards including compliance with both the legislation and HMRC’s guidance, without compromising on the value of relief to which clients are entitled.  The Compliance Team also manages all correspondence with HMRC and any arising Enquiries. The team has a strong track record of resolving HMRC enquiries in a mutually beneficial manner for their clients and HMRC.   Outside of tax, Eli is passionate about helping others navigate the convoluted care system in the UK. This stems from his lived experience as a primary carer for his brother-in-law who has Down’s Syndrome.   Welcome on-board Eli - we are delighted to have you with us! #RCKPartners #Compliance

This month, some members of our team are volunteering at the EY Foundation hosting a variety of their Employability Skills week workshops! The EY Foundation is an exciting initiative designed to empower young people, from all types of socio-economic backgrounds, at pivotal stages of their educational and professional development. Our team are there to provide support and advice with interview workshops, mock interview sessions, Dragons Den style workshops, and employer insights. The team will discuss different areas of the business, alongside unique career tips, such as interview techniques and CV tailoring.   Head of Recruitment Stuart Frank kicked off RCK's lead interview skills workshop. Next week, Senior Commercial Manager Shauna McLean will lead an insights session and Senior Commercial Associate & former Dragons Den candidate Harrison Jones will fittingly host the Dragons Den style workshop.   It's great to see the RCK Partners team offering their skills and experience to aid in young people's professional development!

A question we often get asked is 'Can I claim R&D tax credits every year?' To answer this, yes, a business can claim every year as long as the company is continuing R&D activities in their accounting periods. Companies are eligible each year to make an application for relief depending on qualifying activities if in line with HMRC guidelines. To read more about this topic please see our latest blog post: https://lnkd.in/epfPD3FY

“In the construction industry going forward, I personally see a lot of work on the sustainability side of things. Historically, this is an industry that has been quite vast in its production of carbon; we’ve seen a lot of work recently with companies trying to reduce this, with big efforts to construct buildings of the same quality in terms of their function, but with much less embodied carbon in their production and operation.   Within R&D, we’re looking at opportunities available in terms of these improvements being made to design and development; this can include staff costs, subcontractor costs, externally provided workers, consumable materials and software.” - Associate Consultant, Brandon Harris.   Reach out to our team for a free consultation and find out how we can guide you through the claim process for technically challenging projects. #RCKPartners #RandD #London #Construction 📽 Rebecca Andrews
