As part of the Randstad with heart initiative, our employees spend an annual working day volunteering for causes close to their hearts. I've spent the first half of mine this week volunteering at the North Wales Women's center who focus on supporting those more vulnerable women with multiple and complex issues which are preventing them from progressing to happier more fulfilled lives. Typical issues dealt with are domestic violence, homelessness and poverty. Having used the services at the center myself, I know just how important they are and the difference that the staff and volunteers make on a daily basis so to support and give back myself, means the world to me. About the center North Wales Women’s Centre is a local, independent charity. We work closely with the public sector – including the probation service, the police and local authority – but we are funded entirely by grants, donations from the public, and contracts we win to deliver specific pieces of work. * We champion a trauma informed women centred approach – this enables us to achieve better outcomes for the women we work with. * Our work is asset based – it builds on the skills and abilities a woman already has, and removes the barriers that prevent her from moving forward https://lnkd.in/ePDhx86Q Randstad UK Hazel Baxter Karen Guthrie Sadie Besley Helen Rawlins Rosemary Weatherhead Jane Higgins Dawn Schwab NORTH WALES WOMEN'S CENTRE LIMITED

The 2023/24 Student Support Insight Report highlights four key themes for 2024 and provides deep insights into the student experience amid a turbulent educational landscape. We surveyed 1,429 students with a disability or mental health condition studying in more than 200 higher education institutions to understand the current state of student support in the UK as experienced by those who need it most. Here are the four key themes that emerged:  🔷 Gender identity: Our findings suggest that those who identify as trans (including non-binary) not only need different sorts of support, they need more of it. 🔷 Employability: Regardless of gender identity, the majority of students are worried about their job prospects. 🔷 Frequency of support: Timely and regular support has a positive impact on mental well-being, management of stress and anxiety, and time management. 🔷 Mental health concerns: While academic stress remains the number one factor leading to poor mental health, the number of students reporting that university is negatively impacting their mental well-being has steadily declined since the pandemic.   You can download the full report to unlock actionable insights. ⬇ https://lnkd.in/edtj_Aga

Top 5 reasons employees leave (and what employers can do to prevent it) – findings from the Randstad Employer Brand Research Report 2024. Understanding why employees leave is crucial to facilitate changes that can help you retain top talent and build a stronger, more committed team. We independently surveyed 12,000 employees in the UK to gather valuable insights into the evolving needs and expectations of today’s workforce, and here is what we found: 🔵 Work-life balance is still the top motivator for considering new employment among 41% of the respondents. Offering flexible schedules, remote work options, and policies that facilitate a healthy work-life balance can keep top talent from walking out your door. 🔵 30% of the respondents reported leaving their employers for offers they could not refuse. Providing fair and competitive compensation that keeps pace with inflation and recognises their contributions can help you retain high-performing employees. 🔵 Too low compensation due to the rising cost of living was cited as a reason to leave an employer by 27% of the respondents. Providing cost-of-living adjustments cannot be ignored in the current economic climate. 🔵 24% of the respondents mentioned they leave jobs where they feel their professional growth has stagnated. Providing clear paths for advancement, training programs, and opportunities to learn new skills are imperative. 🔵 22% of the respondents highlighted a lack of interest in the job due to insufficient challenges where they could not utilise their skills effectively. You must regularly assess and align their skills with suitable projects and provide opportunities for continuous learning. Retaining talent is beneficial in more than a few ways. With valuable employees, you can maintain continuity, foster innovation, ensure sustained growth and build a strong employer brand. What’s more? A positive employer brand can further reduce recruitment costs, improve employee morale, and provide a competitive edge in the marketplace. Download the full report at https://hubs.la/Q02H2Qxt0 💬 What retention strategies has your company implemented to address these challenges? Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments! Let us learn from each other and create workplaces where employees want to stay and grow.
