The changes the Australian government have made, impact student decision-making. According to the QS Country Perceptions Survey 2024, 34% of prospective students were aware the Australian government had implemented new visa rules for international students. A sizeable 17% of prospective students were less likely to consider Australia because of this. 🤔How can Australian universities mitigate recruitment risks and build a sustainable funnel of international students? Understanding what challenges and opportunities are facing your university, with data to back up opinion, is always key. That's why at The PIE Live Asia Pacific, we're hosting a data-led session called "Reputation reset", and exploring how higher education can navigate the changing landscape, recruit more effectively and improve institutional performance. There is no doubt that international graduates are a major contributor to the UK’s reputation and soft power influence. Many respondents feel they have far stronger prospects as a result of their UK degree and are satisfied with their salary and potential for career progression. According to the International Graduate Outcomes 2024 report, those that remained in the UK on the Graduate route visa are more likely to feel a connection to the UK (73%) and do business with the UK (59%) than those who remained in the UK on other visas. In some ways, Australian universities have mitigated student recruitment risks already. They're less reliant on China and India than universities in the UK, USA and Canada. But how do you capitalise on this success? And how can universities adapt when governments implement policy that directly impacts student decision-making? Get the answers: https://lnkd.in/gGGYdhwu Before his session at The PIE Live Asia Pacific, we asked Jeroen Prinsen, QS Executive Director for Asia Pacific to give us a preview and share our recommendations for Australian universities. #QSInsights #IntlEd #PIELive24

This is great news. We're delighted that the new UK government has reaffirmed its commitment to the Graduate route visa, and highlighted that international students are welcome. The International Graduate Outcomes 2024 report, which we published in collaboration with Universities UK International clearly showed the impact of the Graduate route visa on students and the economy. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/ejGiDkfz 🎓73% of surveyed graduates felt that the visa met their expectations, reporting higher job satisfaction than those on other visas. ⚕️60% of respondents still living in the UK work in small- to medium-sized organisations, with the highest percentage employed in healthcare. We also know the importance of a welcoming environment. In Destination: UK, our new report based on the QS International Student Survey 2024, we revealed that 52% of students interested in studying in the UK said that a welcoming environment for international students was an important factor when choosing a country to study in.
