PFAS, also known as “forever chemicals,” have important uses in our daily lives however they are harmful to human health and the environment when they appear in our water supply. London-based startup Puraffinity has a vision to provide 1 billion people with PFAS-free water by 2030, with a green chemistry approach that allows for PFAS capture and reuse. A first-of-its-kind study has found that PFAS or “forever chemicals” — toxic compounds found in everyday beauty and personal care items like sunscreen, waterproof mascara and lipstick — can seep through human skin and enter the bloodstream. PFAS have been an area of concern for some time, and we are proud to back the startups that are leading the way in finding novel ways to isolate and destroy them - Puraffinity and Aclarity. https://lnkd.in/gStMtsqZ

We had a great time at the Royal Academy of Engineering panel discussion regarding the positive societal and economic impact championing Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion can have on businesses. Engineers shape the world we live in. Embracing diversity is not only the right thing to do but also unlocks new innovative and inclusive ideas to create solutions beneficial for the majority, not the few. Henrik Hagemann, who was on the panel, says, “I am thrilled to see the level of effort going into covering the business case for the engineering sector to invest in EDI and the tangible benefits for areas ranging from H&S incidents to talent attraction. It's humbling to take part alongside #EDI leaders like Loraine Martins OBE FRSA (she/her) and Clare Rhodes James, figures that the engineering sector is lucky to be learning from when it comes to this space. “   At Puraffinity, we believe you have to lead with Inclusion, and we loved Annette Chau's reminder of Vernā Myers' quote: "Diversity is being invited to the party; Inclusion is being asked to dance."
