Another project by Elemental Energy:🟢 Green Hydrogen provides zero-carbon power for Komatsu construction equipment 🏗️ In the drive toward Net-Zero Construction Sites, reducing carbon-emissions from heavy mobile equipment is key. Recently, Elemental Energy participated in a Proof of Concept (POC) with Komatsu, exploring the potential of green hydrogen technology as an off-grid charging solution for their new battery electric PC210LCE Excavator. Trialled at the Komatsu UK site in Birtley, the POC utilised Elemental Energy’s H2IPO hydrogen microgrid unit, with green hydrogen supplied by Protium Green. The project provided valuable data on how green hydrogen can decarbonise heavy industry, from charging electric equipment to supporting temporary, renewable microgrids for on-site power. Delivered green hydrogen provides a viable alternative to fossil-fuel energy and a more practical solution than transporting large battery systems to high-demand sites. Protium Green’s pioneering Hydrogen-as-a-Service model is now making green hydrogen readily available in the UK.   Elemental Energy’s H2IPO unit delivers reliable power to sites with no grid supply or where grid supply is limited, blending energy resources - including hydrogen, battery storage, solar and wind - to enable diesel-free operation.   Elemental Energy, Protium, Komatsu #GreenHydrogen, #Construction, #GreenConstruction, #NetZero # Sachio Kunisawa Will Stinton https://elemental.energy/ https://www.komatsu.eu/en https://lnkd.in/gfCUw94w https://protium.green/

Pioneer 2 SNEAK PEAK!! After talking about our latest addition to the Protium family for many months, I am absolutely delighted to share a sneak peak of our newest electrolyser Pioneer 2 which arrived in the UK last week! A few facts about Pioneer 2: 1. It is the largest single containerised electrolyser in the UK (2.5MW) 2. And the largest single stack PEM electrolyser system in the UK (1.25MW per stack) 3. At full capacity it can produce c. 1 tonne of fuel cell grade green hydrogen a day, enough to supply c.50 single decker buses a day or 25x HGVs (44 tonne) 4. This will be the 2nd market leading electrolyser deployment project in the UK, following our deployment of Pioneer 1 (the largest deployed AEM system in the UK, and the largest electrolyser in Wales). I am also excited because once commissioned Pioneer 2 will allow Protium to broaden how we support customers, and to move into large scale supply of hydrogen including 1 tonne tube trailers – which we see as vital to supporting the UK green hydrogen eco-system. Today it is our firm believe that the UK has an eco-system of dynamic and exciting hydrogen companies who are being held back from delivering on the full potential of their solutions because of a lack of fuel cell grade green hydrogen in the market. While many organisations continue to sit and wait for government subsidies before making investments, Protium believes that real leadership requires companies to take bold steps and lead from the front. Something Protium was set up to do. If you haven't been speaking to our hydrogen team about Pioneer 2 and you need green hydrogen, then make sure you contact Will Stinton, Holly Makin, Victor Vorsatz or Jon Constable. A big thank you also to our partner Nel Hydrogen for supporting Pioneer 2. Excited Håkon Volldal to have you over when we have our formal COD ceremony! #greenhydrogen

LAUNCH 🚀 : We're launching our light hydrogen trailers in the UK & EU to simplify green hydrogen distribution. These new trailers contain Hexagon Purus' Type-4 cylinders and carry 99kg of H2 at 380bar with high- and low-pressure outlets. This is a versatile tool for H2 refuelling and H2 supply to stationary power systems for construction sites, film shoots and events. The trailers are compliant to ADR and can be pulled by any ADR conforming vehicle with a towing capacity of 3tons. We've integrated a control, logging and monitoring system that enable real-time monitoring of hydrogen levels and log all filling and discharge data. Elemental built these systems to bridge the gap between smaller cylinder bundles and larger tube trailers, They enable more frequent, lower-volume transport of hydrogen, reducing storage and delivery costs. A very belated thanks to New York for hosting another great Climate Week this year. It would be naive to say that this year has been easy for companies in the Energy Transition, and certainly there is a lot more work to do. It was good to see how governments are stepping up and companies are continuing to innovate in this space as well. It’s not perfect, but they are certainly trying. The key question after New York for me however remains this: for how long will capital be able to sit on the sidelines of the energy transition? As I’ve said to people before, if governments are at 100% debt to GDP ratios and most consumers in developed economies are feeling a cost of living squeeze, then the only way to fund the energy transition must be from investors. Whether that’s through taxation, lower returns or taking more risk, the question is how and when will they move? China has decided to move, and indeed dominates clean energy investments this year, as it did in 2023. Whether US, UK, Europe and other G20 economies follow is now the question. Bring on COP29 for hopefully some more hints at what the answer might be! Thanks to Forbes and RMI for hosting two wonderful events this year!

🚢 𝗥𝗛𝟮𝗜𝗡𝗘 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰: 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 🚢 At the opening of the RH2INE Conference 2024 in Duisburg today, regional minister Frederik Zevenbergen (Provincie Zuid-Holland) and director Michael Theben (Nordrhein-Westfalen) shared updates on the strides and challenges in making hydrogen the fuel of the future for inland waterway transport. RH2INE has hit major milestones, with hydrogen-powered vessels from our network partners currently sailing on Europe’s rivers, proving the potential of hydrogen in the sector. “Seeing hydrogen-powered ships sailing on our rivers has been a remarkable achievement by our partners. These pilots are not just innovations; they’re the building blocks for scaling hydrogen across Europe’s inland waterways,” said Frederik Zevenbergen. 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺 Over the past five years, province of Zuid-Holland and North Rhine-Westphalia have been working together to align their hydrogen strategies, ensuring coordinated infrastructure development and pushing for shared standards. “Cross-border collaboration is essential. The Rhine doesn’t stop at borders, and neither should our hydrogen ambitions. Together, we can turn these pilots into a complete hydrogen network,” said Michael Theben. The conference participants kept the momentum going with interactive workshops on critical topics like financing the transition and developing sustainable business models for hydrogen tanktainer provision. These discussions are key to ensuring the scalability of these pilots into widespread solutions for the inland shipping industry. Further boosting these efforts, the Dutch government announced at the Conference a substantial subsidy of over 200 million euro’s from the Klimaatfonds, ensuring continued momentum in decarbonizing inland shipping. 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 With over 40 partners from six countries, the RH2INE network has seen tremendous growth, highlighting the central role hydrogen will play in decarbonizing Europe’s inland shipping. And a warm welcome to our new members: Protium, Deltalinqs, Schweizerische Rheinhäfen - Port of Switzerland, Région Hauts-de-France, and Rheinland-Pfalz! As the initiative grows, the founding partners have introduced a new organizational structure to reflect the expanding membership. Six regions and three ports have agreed on a future-proof governance and financial framework to keep the momentum strong. At the Conference, the Secretariat was officially handed over to Tom Verlinden and Bert De Colvenaer from WaterstofNet , who will ensure continued cohesion and leadership in the years ahead. #HydrogenEconomy #InlandShipping #RH2INE #SustainableTransport #GreenEnergy #CrossBorderCollaboration #FutureOfShipping Klaas van Staalduine Irma Kenter Lilian Froitzheim-Leijs Inga Soellner Stefan Garche Erwin van der Linden Frederik Zevenbergen NRW.Energy4Climate

Hydrologiq 💧 is the delivery partner chosen by Sunbelt Rentals UK & Ireland and Balfour Beatty plc to install, monitor and manage a hydrogen-powered generator at the Environment Agency's Canvey Island Revetment Project. Watch the linked video, featuring Hydrologiq's now-famous Technical Operations Manager Stuart Blackburn. 1) The hydrogen generator delivered 24/7 silent power to the site across the 4-week period, its only tailpipe emission, H20. 💦 2) During the 4-week period, the site consumed 202.5kg of green hydrogen produced by Protium, generated 3,310kWh of energy at an average 49% generator efficiency, and saved 4256kg CO2e, eliminating the (scope 1) direct emissions associated with powering the compound. 🚭 3) Operationally, the deployment was achieved on time due to a close working collaboration between key stakeholders and was expedited by the efficiencies built into Hydrologiq’s H2 operations platform, HydrologiqOS. 🖥 4) The EODev GEH2 generator remained silent for the duration of the trial, and its silence didn’t go unnoticed, as on-site personnel commented on its positive impact from both a sound level and improved air quality, with the GEH2 producing only water vapour as its by-product. 🔇 Aran Bates, Hydrologiq CEO, said: "As consensus grows that hydrogen plays a key role in removing diesel from construction sites, the key to its acceptance lies in seamless integration. We need collaboration across the entire supply chain, ensuring that the physical, digital, process and regulatory pieces all come together to unlock the true potential of this fuel source. Hydrologiq is building the bridges to make hydrogen adoption effortless, and this project at Canvey Island is a major step forward in that mission." The project was the product of a quick-acting and trusted supply chain, safe working practices, and operational efficiency. Thanks to Christian Spence Mehrnoosh Khan Stéphane Jardin Gilles Payet-Burin Holly Makin and more for helping to make it a success. https://lnkd.in/eB6-i24D
