With 800 Premier Inn hotels across the UK, we serve a lot of food. And inevitably, that can sometimes lead to food waste. As part of our Environmental, Social and Governance responsibilities, reducing food waste is one of our key goals... we currently recycle around 50% – and at a recent Customer Closeness event, Rachel Sprackett, Premier Inn’s Environmental Reporting and Communications Manager, highlighted the challenges we face as well as the solutions we’ve found and goals we are committed to. 🥖 We are committed to reducing food waste by 50% by 2030. ♻️ Our aim is to divert 100% of operational waste to landfill – a target we meet every year. 👍🏻 We have signed up to the UK Plastic Pact in an effort to eliminate all unnecessary single-use plastic. We still have some way to go but we are determined to keep moving forward. We’ve opened a brand-new hotel in York City Centre! 🎉 Located in the heart of York, close to the iconic York walls, our new hotel boasts 188 new rooms. But what truly excites us at Premier Inn is the incredible community support leading up to this opening. Our dedicated team volunteered 200 hours at St Nicks Environment Centre, helping restore and maintain the local nature reserve. Not only this, in support of our charity partnership with Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity, some of our team completed and sponsored the ‘City Walls Walk’. Since 2012, our teams have demonstrated immense creativity and perseverance in their fundraising efforts, engaging in everything from skydives to marathons and numerous other innovative activities. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the dedication of our teams, guests, and suppliers.
