We’ve released a trading update for the first quarter of 2024/25, covering the 13 weeks up to 29 June. We’ve delivered strong volume led, branded growth with branded sales up 7.3%. We gained both value and volume market share in Grocery and Sweet Treats. Sales from overseas markets are up 24% with strong growth across all regions. We were happy to be at The Food and Drink Federation's Summer Parliamentary Reception earlier this week, where our head of public affairs Sam Gold caught up with the MP for our St Albans head office Daisy Cooper.
On Wednesday we welcomed MPs to our first parliamentary reception of with the new government at the House of Commons celebrating the achievements of the food & drink manufacturing industry. We showcased the positive impact our businesses have, not only on the economy - highlighted with data from our latest regional report, but also in our communities across their regions and constituencies, featuring member stories and some of the great work our businesses are already doing. Alongside our members, we spoke to MPs about the sector's need for investment, economic growth, and innovation and how we can partner to ensure a secure future for food and drink, asking them to pledge their support for food and drink manufacturers in the UK. Congratulations to Jennifer Brown, recently crowned School Chef of the Year! The hotly contested annual title is sponsored by Bisto and supported by our Food Service team, with entrants using a range of Premier Foods products in their recipes to create nutritious meals. Jennifer created "Easy like Monday mornay" - baked pollock with cheese sauce in a potato and spinach case - followed by a rhubarb and custard meringue tart with raspberry coulis for dessert.

At Premier Foods, we have a target to reach 1000 days volunteered a year by 2030. Here are some highlights from June: ◾ Colleagues from our Moreton site volunteered at the Number 7 Cafe in Birkenhead, which is a Citizen’s Supermarket, community café and confidential advice and support hub. They got involved with stocking the shelves and organising the stockroom. ◾ Some of our Worksop colleagues helped at Clumber Park National Trust where they organised a nature identification day, logging species in the area for a national database. ◾ Our IT team volunteered at Abbey Line CRP which looks after an historic branch line between Watford and St Albans, helping clear lots of litter. ◾ Teams also volunteered with our long term partner, FareShare UK, at sites in Leeds and Ashford, helping organise deliveries of surplus stock so it could be redistributed. Thank you to all colleagues who have helped make a difference within our communities.
