A lot of our friends are embarking on new personal and professional adventures these days. Here's a quick (but hopefully helpful) reminder that uncertainty is sometimes completely appropriate, normal, and not a bad thing. #Uncertainty #Voltaire #PhilosophyAtWork #Change

We teach the thinking skills professionals need to think their best.
About us
Philosophy at Work is a collective of philosophers helping businesses think their best. We deliver thinking skills training workshops, keynotes and Executive Thinking Labs that spark curiosity, sharpen strategic thinking and share the practical tools professionals need to think their best. We believe that a group of people thinking their best is not only a beautiful thing - it’s a powerful force for good. But here’s the challenge: Today, thinking matters to virtually every role, but cultures of busyness and pressure make work a place where thinking can be an uphill battle. Philosophy at Work helps businesses become incubators of great ideas. Our keynotes and training workshops fuel corporate cultures where good ideas can thrive, and our thinking skills workshops help employees cultivate the mindset, skills and behaviour of great thinkers. The benefits of a thinking culture? 1. Great ideas: the ones that solve problems and make work valuable. 2. Real engagement: the kind that comes when people feel safe to share their views. 3. Swiss-Army-People: adaptable teams who have everything they need to think for themselves, navigate change, and go beyond business-as-usual. How we do it: Philosophy of Work is made up of academically trained philosophers who have real-world business experience and world-class facilitation skills. We don’t just know how to think, we know how to be supportive thinking partners, communicating big ideas in plain language so that everyone benefits. What's the limit of good thinking? Because great thinking can be co-created and truly collaborative, the insights that come out of the projects we get to partner with clients on are always fresh and no two sessions are the same. Imagine what happened when we got to lead Sky's 250-strong leadership community through reflective exercises drawing out their philosophy of leadership! More on that project below 👇 and if you'd like help thinking through how your leaders think, let us know - we'd love to be your thinking partner too. https://lnkd.in/giCt7CJu #AwayDay #ExecutiveDevelopment #LeadershipDevelopment

Sometimes it's what's missing that set's something apart. The trick is to notice how you frame the day-to-day information you receive. Is the uncertainty you have about Q3 or Q4 cause for concern, or it is an opportunity? Is the constructive feedback your colleague shared a threat, or have they clarified your next step in professional development? Reframing the information you receive doesn't change the facts, but it does change how you interact with those facts. #PositiveReframing #ThinkBetterDoBetter #Philosophy #ThinkingSkills

There's an odd tension in work life these days. On the one hand, we (rightly) want our work to matter. But on the other hand, we've inherited a post-enlightenment view of the world that devalues uncertainty. Running in the background of our data-driven work landscape seems to be the belief that certainty is attainable. Into this landscape comes this insight from the psychotherapist, Erich Fromm, "The quest for certainty blocks the search for meaning". Logic, data, and the pursuit of information we can base our business decisions on continue to be important. But in Fromm's perspective is an insight about control. Trying to lock down life and quantify everything, can limit the surprising and meaningful opportunities that sneak up when we least expect them. 🤔 #Uncertainty #PhilosophyAtWork #MeaningfulWork

"When disappointment knocks on the your door, greet it with gratitude, for it reveals the gaps that need to be filled in order to grow." - Thich Nhat Hanh Thich Nhat Hanh was a Vietnamese Buddhist monk, author and poet. We find his wisdom around disappointment helpful because it shows the potential for delicious, enriching parts of life that can come about in the gap between our expectations and reality. Perhaps our expectations are too mundane, and disappointment can reveal the very gap that needs to be filled in order to grow. #Disappointment #ThinkBetterDoBetter #ThichNhatHanh

Hello! 👋 Sometimes 'philosophy' can be a big word. We like to keep it simple. 'Philo' means love, and 'sophia' is another word for wisdom. Philosophy is just the love of wisdom. And what about work? Well, work means a lot of different things to lots of different people. We do Philosophy at Work because we care about helping businesses (and the people in them) think their best. The professional landscape doesn't always support good thinking. But it doesn't have to be that way. We teach the skills professionals need to think their best. That means, ethical decision making, curious and creative thinking, and the ability to challenge colleagues in ways that are constructive and productive. We'd love to be your thinking partner too. https://lnkd.in/gT_aHXhS #PhilosophyAtWork #Philosophy #ThinkingSkills #LearningAndDevelopment

We love partnering with curious teams doing excellent things. For that reason, we continue to really value the collaboration we get to do with the great team over at the Miro Discovery Center. Together, we created the Dinner Kit to help facilitate meaningful conversations and strong relationships. Thank you Miro for continuing to lean into the art of the possible, and for being such a great thinking partner! #Curiosity #ExecutiveBriefingCenter #Miro #ThinkBetterDoBetter
