It has been almost a week since our annual charity Golf Day at Hawkstone Park but we didn't want to post on LinkedIn until we could announce the total funds raised from the event. Our supporters truly are THE BEST. Your kindness and generosity towards the children and families we support has simply blown us away, and we'd like to thank everyone who took part on the day, who bought raffle tickets and placed auction bids, who donated prizes and who sponsored the day. Because of your support we are thrilled to announce that our 11th golf day has been our most successful yet, raising a breathtaking.... £20,031.81! To put this in perspective, this level of income can fully fund the centre for almost a month - supporting more than 70 children and their families each week. Thank you one and all. Special shout outs go to GILIKER FLYNN INDEPENDENT WEALTH LTD Chris Flynn DipFA amb Insurance Services Ltd Mark Jones Cert CII Andrew Barrow DIP CII Nick Holland Luke Yeomans Dave Clapp We couldn't give local children with special needs the best start in life without you. Giving children with special needs the best start in life
About us
Unique across Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire and Cheshire, no other charity does what we do in our region. We transform the lives of children with special educational needs and their families. Through bespoke Education, Care and Development sessions at our specialist development centre in Newcastle, we support children to grow and develop, from building confidence to socialising, and from taking steps unaided to gaining communication skills. Each of our children has different needs and abilities and is encouraged at every stage by our caring and dedicated team of expert practitioners. Our sessions aim to give every child the best early support to enable them to continue their journey into education. Parent carers enjoy much-needed respite whilst their children are in our care. Our Peter Pan Stay and Play groups in Newcastle, Burslem, Fenton, Sneyd Green and Biddulph are relaxed and friendly sessions for under-5’s, where we share ideas and activities parent carers can try at home, provide support and advice on a range of issues and offer a chance for parent carers to meet other families. Local children with special educational needs and their families are facing unprecedented challenges right now and we have never been more needed. But did you know there is no statutory educational provision for children under five with special needs? Because of this we receive no government funding. This means that, without us, many of our children would be without any early years support. It is thanks to our local community, local businesses and grant and trust funders that we can raise the £380,000 we need annually to support over 100 children and families. If you'd like to get involved please get in touch, you truly can make a difference!

Our Fundraising Manager Claire was honoured and thrilled to be able to represent the Peter Pan Centre on Monday, along with our Chair Colin, to accept a Weston Charity Award 2024 at Birmingham Thinktank. This award recognises the vital work we do as a charity, but also marks the start of a year-long programme where we will receive a support package that includes strategic planning resources from Pilotlight the pro bono charity connecting charities with expert business professionals, as well as a grant from Garfield Weston Foundation. Along with 23 other winners we represent charities who collectively serve over 650,000 people with diverse missions. Our work has been described as 'critical' and this support will help us maximise our impact and navigate uncertainty to ensure we provide the best possible support to children with special educational needs & disabilities and their families for decades to come.

What a busy few weeks our children have had here at the Peter Pan Centre. The children have enjoyed playing and exploring in the sensory garden, accessing the large play equipment and engaging a range of gross and fine motor activities. Our sensory garden provides a holistic sensory approach to learning, promoting physical and cognitive development, alongside communication and social interaction. So we were so happy when we had some lovely sunny days to spend lots of time outside!

What a #FeelGoodFriday Team Tinkerbell (the name our skydiving team gave to themselves!) had today. The sun was shining and our 8 fearless supporters ticked another thing off their bucket lists. The atmosphere was amazing and Claire was so proud of everyone! We even had our wonderful Jack who uses the centre with us to cheer the team on (well he had a good nap for most of the morning but we don’t mind!). We can’t thank them enough for their bravery and enthusiasm in aid of Peter Pan guys, it was truly heartwarming watching them all bond over this experience knowing you are making a real difference to children’s lives at the same time. Also thanks to Skydive Tilstock Freefall Club for being so welcoming and professional!

As Thursday comes to a close the team at Peter Pan have been reflecting on the activities we did for Deaf Awareness Week last week. Most of us are not very comfortable in front of the camera but we're trying to practise as we know how engaging it is on platforms like LinkedIn! We'd like to share with you our introductions using sign language and other forms of communication that we use with our children here at the centre so you get a flavour of what we do at Peter Pan. And if any of you would like to say hello please send us your photos or videos! #deafawareness #mynameis #communicationskills

So proud of our Chief Executive Catherine!
Chief Exec at Peter Pan Centre for Children with Special Needs & SEND mum. Devoted to the life-changing care and education of children with special needs and the support their families deserve.
Last week I was honoured to represent Peter Pan Centre for Children with Special Needs at a reception for local community childcare champions at 10 Downing Street, hosted by David Johnston OBE MP, thanks to the generosity of our local MP Aaron Bell. Not only did I get to climb the famous yellow staircase where the signed portraits of past PM’s are on display, but I got to meet some lovely people representing some incredible early years providers. Following the reception I was lucky to have a tour of the House of Commons too! I am so pleased that the Peter Pan team has been recognised this way for the difference they make to local children and families. Having lived it myself, they really do go above and beyond to make a difference that lasts a lifetime for children and families. I am privileged to be a small part of this incredible team. #forthechildren #sen #earlyyears #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #peterpancentre #loveyourlocalcharity

This week at Peter Pan we had our first family social meetup at Brampton Park! As part of the continued expansion of the Family support offer at the centre there will be a monthly social meetup in a variety of places such as the park, swimming or cinema! We can't wait to meet even more families next time as we work further across Newcastle and Stoke-on-Trent. 😀 A huge thank you to The National Lottery Community Fund who has helped make this happen 💜
