From assembly to installation, we’re following our first-ever E44 Auxiliary Marine Engine on every step of its journey around the globe. Next up: With testing complete, the E44 has been packaged by Multico Power Drive Pte Ltd. We are now moving on to installation support and site commissioning. Once the generator set is in position on the vessel, the MPD technicians connect and seal the hoses and pipes to ensure there are no leaks. Next, three key systems require attention - the exhaust, fuel, and water systems. The procedure is to carry out an extensive safety protection and function check for high water temperature, low oil pressure, overspeed shutdown, in addition to class specific requirements. The generator set forms part of the Auto Monitoring System (AMS) and all electrical connections are established to ensure the set is talking to the vessel’s central control system. The technicians are now satisfied that everything is in place. Stay tuned for the next stage as we wait for the generator set powered by the first Perkins E44 marine engine to be turned on during the sea trials ready for the hand over to ship owner.
