This week our teams across the globe have embarked on our ‘Getting Active for Good’ challenge. Following the release of the statement on inactivity from the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI) and World Health Organization, we wanted to motivate our teams to get moving. And what better way than to raise money for good causes? The aim is for each of our employees to do 150 minutes of activity each week, over 5 weeks: 3 weeks from 22nd July, and 2 weeks from 26th August. For each employee that hits this goal a portion of the prize pot for each of our office locations is unlocked (as well as the opportunity to win some prizes). There are also other ways to unlock the prize pots, such as the office which travelled the most distance. The prize pot for each location will be donated to a local charity that works to provide young people with opportunities to get active. We’ll be posting updates as we go through the challenge. Why not join us and tick off your 150 minutes too? Let us know if you’re up for it in the comments. Read the joint statement on inactivity here: https://lnkd.in/eRzaD_VU

On Monday, some of the Kickers team and our Creative Director, Katie Greenyer, attended a private viewing of the National Saturday Club annual Summer Show at Somerset House, London. On display was the amazing work produced during the Kickers x National Saturday club masterclass at the Northern School of Art, Middlesbrough, in March this year. Pentland Brands has worked with the National Saturday Club for the past 12 years, helping to provide free extracurricular opportunities for young people aged 13-16. This week our Creative Director Katie Greenyer visited the TEX Finalist 2024 showcase. Katie sat on the panel of judges for the Pentland award, which was awarded to Nikki Kewley a huge congratulations! Over the three days Katie spoke about her experiences in the textile industry and sat on a panel about the importance of organisations like TEX . TEX is an organisation which aims to increase education on textile design, from secondary school to MA level. They’ve created a community of textile designers, and have supported hundreds of graduates in launching and developing their careers in the industry. Katie is a Trustee of TEX , and Texprint alumna.

New data from the World Health Organization shows that 31% of adults worldwide are not doing enough physical activity to maintain good health. Today we stand with the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI) and other sporting goods companies to call for urgent action to address this critical health challenge. Chirag Patel, Pentland Brands CEO has the following to say: “Every single one of our brands is focused on making a difference to our consumers lives; helping them to live positive, active, sustainable lifestyles. This is why we passionately support this joint statement and the urgent call for action. The data speaks for itself: we must continue to invest in creating healthier, more active lifestyles for children and adults globally and finding ways to remove barriers to inactivity.” Read the joint statement here: https://lnkd.in/eRzaD_VU

Today is Social Mobility Awareness Day. It’s a day dedicated to championing equitable employment opportunities for all, organised by Making The Leap We’ve been working with Making the Leap since 2017, striving to break down career barriers for young people through development opportunities such as mentoring and interview skills workshops. In 2023 alone we supported 651 people through our partnership. After being regular exhibitors at Making the Leap’s annual Social Mobility Careers Fair, we’re excited to announce we’ll be running a Raising University Aspirations event with Making the Leap in 2024. We couldn’t be prouder to work with such a fantastic organisation, thank you to everyone at Making the Leap for all the work you do. #SocialMobilityDay

What an amazing experience at YMS London 2024! I had the great pleasure of joining the awesome Sara Brennan and unstoppable Zayanne Bako to talk about "Bringing Gen-Z Insights into the Boardroom". We talked about the journey of creating a Global Youth Collective for Pentland Brands, and shared learnings from the experience and the positive impact for business and communities. It was amazing to hear about Zayanne’s experience as a representative of the Pentland Collective. And the positive feedback from the audience, some said they wanted to launch their own youth collective. A big thank you to Olivia Newman and the wider Pion team for creating such an engaging and inspiring forum. A huge thank you to Maggie M. and Samuel Guest for creating the conditions for impact 🔥 Some key takeaways from the conversation: 💫 A mindset shift from top-down management to participation 💫 Applying a global lens and giving young people the opportunity to shine 💫 Everybody can get started today: you don’t have to start with a huge project The collaboration between internal changemakers (employees) in the business and external changemakers (young leaders) has made this project unique. If you’re thinking about setting up a Youth Advisory Board but not sure how to get started. We would be happy to have a chat and share our learnings. We’re on a mission to make sure every business has a Youth Advisory Board! #YMS2024 #PentlandCollective #YouthAdvisoryBoard
