Switching to electric-powered heating could reduce energy bills in new homes by as much as 40%, according to our new report with the Sustainable Markets Initiative. The report calls for the phasing out of gas boilers in new homes to reduce carbon emissions and help us all on our journey to net zero. And we’ve pledged to phase out these boilers. Today is National Schizophrenia Awareness Day, highlighting a misunderstood condition affecting 1 in 100 people in the UK. It affects men and women equally, and most people are diagnosed between 18 and 35 years old. How does Peabody support those with schizophrenia? With the right support, approximately 20% of those who experience Schizophrenia recover within five years, but the journey has ups and downs. We provide stability and safety in our homes, enabling independent living. Our services range from 24-hour high support to medium support and eventually providing independent accommodation. Our approach includes: Collaboration: working with customers as experts in their illness, encouraging self-identification of strengths and providing peer support Five to thrive: Fostering independence through social networks, hobbies, mindfulness, skill learning and volunteering Trauma-informed care: creating a safe environment, understanding behaviour triggers that focuses on prevention. We treat everyone with respect, showing commitment and willingness to listen, building trust and helping them thrive. Read more about our care and support services - https://lnkd.in/eRwrsMfj

We joined Greater London Authority, the London Borough of Newham, Berkeley Group Plc, Homes England and Transport for London to celebrate progress on Newham’s largest brownfield regeneration site, TwelveTrees Park, on Friday. The development will deliver 3,800 homes, 40% of which will be affordable, including social-rented family homes. More than 750 homes are already under construction, 45 affordable homes will be handed over to Peabody later this year, with a further 65 following in March. The project is transforming TwelveTrees Park into a vibrant, well-connected community with excellent amenities, job opportunities, green spaces, and quick links to central London. Crucially, it will provide much-needed family-sized affordable homes for local people. Read more ➡️: https://lnkd.in/eFJzWK6X #Regeneration #AffordableHousing #Peabody #TwelveTreesPark #Newham

Last week, we welcomed our partners and colleagues to our head office to celebrate the impactful work of the Peabody Community Foundation. We heard inspiring stories from residents who, with the support of the Foundation, have gained the confidence to start their own businesses and go beyond their expectations. Thank you to YouthBuild Ventures UK and Mulalley for sharing success stories of how you’ve empowered young people to take the initiative and find careers they enjoy. #SocialValue #PeabodyCommunityFoundation

Our partner Cook for Good's cookbook is now available for pre-order. The book, "Soup for Good," will be released in October. If you pre-order today (or before 11 August) via the crowdfunding campaign. For every £25 copy sold, they’ll receive £125, up to a total of £50,000. Check out how you can support and order your cookbook below. ⬇️
IT'S HERE! Our gorgeous new cookbook, Soup for Good, is now available for pre-order – and if we can get orders for 400 copies in the next 4 weeks through our crowdfunder campaign (https://lnkd.in/eC2cDhpC), we'll raise a massive extra £50,000 for our community programme. Will you help? Here's the lowdown: 🥣 Soup for Good is a book of recipes and stories from the Cook for Good community. 🥣 It's packed with recipes for soups, breads and toppings that you'll come back to again and again, including donated recipes from our supporters Nigella Lawson, Ed Balls, Gordon Brown, Karan Gokani, and Wichet Khongphoon, and from our culinary partners. 🥣 It also features some of our community's much-loved characters (who have some great stories to tell). 🥣 It's beautifully designed and photographed, and would make a fantastic present for clients, employees, friends and family (it's never too early to start thinking about those festive gifts). 🥣 And all the profits from the book will be used to provide more meals for our community, places at free cooking classes or on our back-to-work training programme, and ways for isolated residents to come together. The book will be available from October, but we'll get £125 for every £25 copy that we pre-sell in the next four weeks, up to a total of £50,000. So please check it out and get ordering! You can find out more and bag your copies here: https://lnkd.in/eC2cDhpC. Thank you so much to our culinary partners, who have funded the publication of Soup for Good, allowing us to invest all the profits into our community programme: BaxterStorey, Genuine Dining, Houston & Hawkes and Restaurant Associates UK. And additional thanks go to these partners for providing extra support for our book: Havas, Peabody, Phoenix Court Works and tp bennett. #socialimpact #soup #notforprofit

The London Homes Coalition's new report, Building Skills for the Future, reveals a severe labour shortage threatening the provision and maintenance of London's social housing. The report highlights the urgent need for 10,000 workers annually for asset management and up to 31,000 workers to support new builds over the next five years. Key findings: - The Coalition represents about 10% of London's construction workforce - There is a potential shortfall of 2,600 skilled workers - Specific trades, like roofing and carpentry, face critical shortages. The Coalition calls for sector-wide collaboration, engagement with education providers, and government cooperation to address these issues. Strategies for tackling the situation include promoting the sector, removing barriers to apprenticeships, and ensuring long-term funding. Fiona Fletcher Smith, CEO of L&Q, said: "Our workforce is ageing and not being replaced. This challenge threatens affordable housing in the capital." Elly H., COO at Peabody, said: "We need a long-term plan and welcome more organisations to join us in addressing the skills gap." Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eRMhNNXD

Today we hosted a music festival for our residents and communities in Essex. Thank you KBH Haus for your support 👏
What a FAB day at the Music Festival for our Essex customers at Cressing Temple Barns, Braintree 😀🥰🤩🫶 The rain may have tried to come through and frighten us, but the joy was much stronger than the rains and a lovely time was had by all. This festival was possible with the generous support of our partners at KBH Haus, our headline sponsor, our energy booster with a sponsored face painting station that had a queue most of the day, and our kind and caring partners in action to deliver repairs and service void properties across the Essex region and beyond. Thank you so much to teams at Peabody, KBH Haus and our lovely array of entertainers for making a bright day in everyone’s weeks 🥰🤝
